Preston pie last season was good, along with Walsall and Chesterfield - but the best by far was at Rochdale.

While we're on the subject of pies, anyone else find traditional pie, mash and liquor very bland?

Give me a chicken and mushroom/ham/leek any day over that. Or beef in ale.

Those Pieminister ones are good, but can't beat a pie from the butchers.

Easy to make mate, you can buy puff pastry from all good supermarkets (and some shit ones as well).

Brown meat off in a frying pan with some onions, shove the meat and onions in a round baking tin with a bit of gravy and some peas, cover with the pastry then bung in the over till golden brown. Goes down a treat with a beer mate!

Do you not prefer a fully based pie?

Nelsons Pork Pies from Lincolnshire are legendary, last for a week or so over chrimbo, tops with pickles amd chutneys, I discovered them when I picked up a personal diary from an Artillery officer in France in 1917, he used to get one delivered each month to share with his men. I found the company still exists and havent looked back since

    Pie lovers wont regret it!

Best pork pie I've ever had was from this lot:

Their hog roast was very, very special too.

For the football grounds Rochdale was by far and away the best for me, oldhams bloody good too. If you want to stray from the pie then the pasties at Exeter are top drawer too.
