A man in New Zealand has had to undergo emergency surgery in Auckland after an eel got lodged inside his derriere.
The kiwi fella turned up at A&E, where he was sent for x-rays and scans to confirm that the slippery sea mammal was stuck in his colon - which was promptly removed on the operating table.
“The eel was about the size of a decent sprig of asparagus and the incident is the talk of the place," said a hospital source.
"Doctors and nurses have come across people with strange objects that have got stuck where they shouldn’t be before, but an eel has to be a first.”
