Who was Jack The Ripper?

Surely he must have been related to Michael Ripper? Can't be a coincidence that he was in numerous Hammer Horror productions?0

Did one of those Ripper tours as I work near the area. Thought it would be rubbish, but very interesting. The From Hell letter was quite chilling.
Strangely enough, the film 'From Hell' is being shown tonight, 12.45 a.m Sky Horror Ch.309. Johnny Depp on the hunt.0 -
thats a good film. complete b*ll*ks but a good film.0

American. Dr. (Quack) Francis Tumblety0

I thought the Michael Caine, two part drama on The Ripper was pretty good!0
-
I am with SHG and Muttley, Tumblety is the most likely candidate of the regular suspects.0

Only on CL would people think they know the answer to a crime unsolved over the last century.0

Carl Feigenbaum a German Sailor. Not one of the suspects, Evidence by a ex-scotland yard detective Trevor Marriott he went to New York and did the same but got caught I believe.0

I've spoken to my mate Ray Mason and he says he has an alibi. But he is a Spurs fan...Miserableoldgit said:Johnny Depp said it was the Masons.

LOL. Very true, but some may have read enough books and seen enough documentaries on the subject to form a reasonable opinion?olster said:Only on CL would people think they know the answer to a crime unsolved over the last century.

I'm sure the old bill gave Nathan his marching orders (section 64 or whatever it is!) shortly after the last murder!0

Strange this thread should come up as my 11 year old boy watched a documentary / film at school yesterday about the Jack the Ripper and last night at bed time he was petrified to go to bed. After a lot of crying and hugging, we managed to get him back in his own bed but later relented during the night when he came in wanting to snuggle up. God knows what he had watched but I must admit I've got some serious questions about the suitability of such a film or whatever it was for children of his age. Anyway, it was either an American or a Royal Surgeon some say or a bloke who was dying having taken too much arsenic.
you sure it wasn't you who was frightened and had to sleep in his bed<?(%~}>

Also heard this one and on the face of it it would seem very persuasive but when he was arrested in the USA he denied the Whitechaple murders and the records of crews for ships which are still available and are in great detail show him not to be in London on all of the Ripper murder dates. He can be eliminated I think.AddickRam said:Carl Feigenbaum a German Sailor. I seem to remember there are five(?) that pretty much everyone agrees were the same man (or woman) but up to maybe a dozen that some people reckon were also the Ripper. The theory that the guide of the walk I went on was that it was some person none of the 'experts' had ever heard of, probably a butcher with syphilis who blamedGoonerhater said:The first issue is are all the ripper murders by the same man ? That theory has been around for years. It's quite compelling, but there was some problem with it, which I must admit I can't remember.
Hope that helps.1 -
