I cant keep it to three. I will list mine as being in attendance. In no particular order:

    1) 98 play off final
    2) Euro 96 England v Netherlands
    3) 2008 Brazilian GP - Hamilton wins title on last corner
    4) 1987 British GP. The famous track invasion after Mansell wins it with 2 laps to go (only 8 years old at the time)
    5) Red Sox beat the Yankees at Fenway in the World Series play offs to take it to a final game (greatest comeback of all time, and so lucky to be in Boston at the time). Will never forget the bloke next to me in tears syaing his Dad died a week ago and will miss maybe seeing them win the World Series finally (which they of course did). Was in Boston for the game when they did it. Literally there were coppers in the streets dancing and spraying beer with fans. Nobody went to work the next day. Totally mental.
    6) EDIT - Killer reminded me. Oval test during the second Ashes win recently. The day when Broad smashed through the Aussie line up. Was my first ever Ashes test.
  • 2005 Ashes - the most exciting cricket series I've ever seen (others like 1981 and 20010/11 were enjoyable but largely one sided)

wembley play off final v sunderland

2012 olympics (don't ask me to pick out an individual event though!)

    98 Playoff Final

Nothing compares with the feelings I have for football, but England winning the rugby World Cup in 2003 was pretty good. The recent ashes tests that we have won as well.

Hard pressed to beat England 5 Germany 1 (to young for 66 final which probably would be number 1, same with Charlton FA Cup win.)
I actually prefer the 4-2 win over Arsenal to the playoff final.

For me, I think last night tops any sporting event I can think of. 2005 and 1981 Ashes were special, that Nadal Federer Wimbledon final from a few years back was superb, Barca winning at Wembley in 1992, years of following Spain through failure after failure followed by the surreal feeling of the last four years, capped by the world cup final, obviously the playoff final win - there are literally too many others to mention, or make a choice from - but last nth was special. I can't see how it can be topped.

Murray v Djorkovic US Open...cried like a baby. Murray looked almost crippled at the end, but never showed it in the match.
Charlton v Preston promotion from old third div. More intimate than Wembley 98...special in a strange way.
    Ryder cup 2012.
