Kevin Pietersen is back for England

(shock)

pietersen is back with a new contract. might be chosen for the india tour next month.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/cricket/international/england/9583629/Kevin-Pietersen-signs-four-month-ECB-contract-and-apologises-for-conduct.html

the saga ends. the texts that got pietersen in trouble in the first place were deleted before the ECB could look at them. no one knows apart from a few if those texts had derogatory terms used against strauss, flowers and others, and if they gave tactics away to the south africans. pietersen gives an apology and all is forgiven.

this is also an interesting read....

  • Hardly surprising. The cricket authorities are probably admitting the truth through gritted teeth .. other than Pietersen, Cook, Bell and Trott, there are just no other English (or ex South African) qualified batsmen remotely talented enough to be classed as of real test cricket pedigree. I hope that Compton, the grandson of a real 1940s cricketing icon will prove me wrong
Strauss has gone. If Pietersen's main beef was with him, let's hope for a fresh start under Cook, a far less prickly personality than Strauss
  • England need him and KP can't go anywhere else, he's had his punishment and presumably is on a last warning if so this is about right.

If had been been any other player I doubt they would have played for England ever again. KP is England's best batsman & they need him
  • Been called up for the test series against India, love him or hate him, our batting order looks a lot better with him in it.
  • Do they need him at the expense of squad harmony?

Unfortunately I agree. No matter what has gone on, England need him & they know it. Sad but true
