I've never really been a big fan of the James Bond Franchise but i have decided work my way through them all , thanks to the new Sky 007 channel. ( i have probably only seen about 6 or 7 in the past)
I have just watched the first film , Dr No from 1962 and you have to wonder why they made another. It's a very dull film.

I was wondering which Bond film was the favourite of the Lifers?

Is the 007 channel open to all Sky users or do you need to subscribe to Sky movies?

Christ, how can I pick a fav? Jeez. Spy who loved me was awesome.

    Roll on Skyfall.

Dr No very dull? Good luck with the rest of the films. ;-)

I'm a big fan of the James Bond films - I particularly like Sean Connery in the role. It's difficult to think that far back, but I'm pretty sure the first one I saw at the cinema was Goldfinger, but not when it was first released (honest).

The Roger Moore era films I loved at the time but they haven't aged well.

Let's face it - I wanted to be Bond, James Bond - I wanted to be that cool, to drive those Astons and sh&g those women.... Anyway, favourite is probably Goldfinger.

Isn't Dr No the one with Ursula Andres as "Honey Ryder"? Not exactly dull in my house.
  • They all have their charm, but I enjoy re-runs more when we replace 'gold' with 'brown', whenever it is mentioned in the film.

My personal favourite is Goldfinger. Great plot and a proper villain. Want to give a nod to Timothy Dalton's protrayal of Bond as he got close to the character as written by Fleming. Sorry to say I hated the Roger Moore version.....nowhere near how I saw Bond when Iread the books as a kid.

I find some of the Roger Moore films fairly average. They hit on a formula which is all too apparent in the later ones.
  • Live and Let Die.

    And Jane Seymour.
  • Bond films are great entertainment. There are a couple I don't rate too highly - Moonraker and The Man With the Golden Gun - both with Roger Moore, whose Bond was way too smooth for my liking. Fleming created an egotistical and ruthless killer, not some limp-haired fool in a safari suit. Still, I guess you like whichever Bond you grew up with. For me Connery will probably always be the best Bond, although Daniel Craig is pretty good too. The last two Bonds were excellent. Favourite Bond films are From Russia With Love and Licence to Kill.

The best game on any console ever.

Probably the reason why Goldeneye is my favourite Bond film.

I do like a bit of Bond. Favourite is probably still Sean Connery but I thought Dalton was excellent as a far more ruthless Bond and Daniel Craig has been excellent too. Wasn't keen on Roger Moore and Brosnan was okay but not exceptional.

Best Bond song for me is Carly Simon - Nobody Does It Better.

    Then there's the Bond girls...

At times they have been crass, silly, infantile, moronic, excrutiatingly cringey but you just can't help but love them. My favourite is For Your Eyes Only, purely because it ticks all the boxes; it's cheesy when it needs to be, has good action scenes and the plot has more holes in it than an old cardigan. Actually the best for sheer audacity is Die Another Day - the script is so woefully embarassing.

Unfortunate that the new one's tend to take themselves a bit too seriously. The last one, Quantum of Solace, was such a mess it was almost a blessed relief that MGM went into administration shortly afterwards and that 'Bond 23' was put on hold. I do think that Skyfall has got a lot to live up to but I've been unimpressed with its marketing thus far...it looks as though it will have more product placement than about fifteen HBO dramas combined.

I still can't believe someone managed to convince both Sam Mendes and Javier Bardem to get involved.

Great Great game. None of the bond games have matched it at all.
  • I'm a big Bond fan and find it difficult to pick a favourite film. I judge the films by who played Bond:

    1: Sean Connery
    2: Daniel Craig
    3: Timothy Dalton
    4: George Lazenby
    5: Pierce Brosnan
    6: Roger Moore

(4 and 5 are very close, but I like the story of OHMSS).

    10 favourite Bond Grirls:

    1: Eva Green
    2: Rosamund Pike
    3: Carole Bouquet
    4: Sophie Marceau
    5: Denise Richards
    6: Daniela Bianchi
    7: Honor Blackman
    8: Jane Seymour
    9: Diana Rigg
    10: Caroline Munro

Favourite Bond girl Gemma Arteton surely?

The new Skyfall bond film looked good coming out in November. Like Adeles song for it too.

    Trailer...

For me Dalton is by far the best bond, followed by Brosnan (literally).
He captures the darkness of the character as is written in the books.

Loved The Spy Who Loved Me (mainly for the car - I was about 7 or 8 when it came out and for the Carly Simon song which I still think is wonderful).

My favourites though are probably Goldfinger, From Russia with Love and Live and Let Die
  • Love Bond , got all the films on dvd and make it a tradition to watch them at Christmas time , just can't warm to Daniel Craig though , hope the new Bond film is better.

Sean Connery also played him that way. Was it in Dr No or From Russia With Love where he throws an electric heater into a bath to kill an attacker?
