    Out of all those examples, only one was genuinely religious (Bloody Mary). The others were political/war. Henry VII didn't burn the abbeys, he dissolved them and took their money.

    Of course we've had religious extremism (especially against Catholics e.g. the Gordon riots) but nothing like France, Spain, Italy and others.
