Don't get what the fact he's white has got to do with anything either
without this turning into another race thread, the way he speaks is all abit put on and black american. nothing wrong with white people liking hip-hop obviously, but theres just absolutely no need for the talk and it would probably make him a bit more respectable and less of a joke. if i was into bhangra music i wouldnt start talking with a pujabi twang.

I think some do have a problem with him being white and liking rap. About the voice thing, I take your point but is it not conceivable that for the last 30 years or so that he has been involved with that scene that most of his friends would talk with that accent and therefore it would just rub off on him?
I know not exactly the same thing but my Dad is Irish, he has lived in England a lot longer than he has in Ireland so has quite a strong English accent, yet whenever he meets up with old friends or family that accent always comes back.

Nothing wrong with talking about it
Thing is tho the slang, dialect and style of speech are blended now, with no real distinct split between cultures. Its far more of a sliding scale than ever before and yet some still cling to the fact that if you speak a certain way then you put yourself in a distinct category.

As a big hip-hop fan myself, I find the bloke highly annoying, yes hes done a lot for the music in this country and the acts from here, but I dont agree that hes a great DJ, he plays that highly wasteful, recycled commercial stuff that gets played and watered down on radio and gets paid off by the labels with the money to do so, therefore its all the same comercial garbage and nonsense about guns sex, hoes and all that crap....and people who only hear that side of it will think its all awful egotistical misogynistic crap (already a few comments on here alluding to that).
And then I have to defend hip-hop saying theres much more to it than that , but until DJs like him start playing the more underground/alternative stuff, people like Kendrick Lamar, Ab-Soul, Lupe Fiasco, Common, Skyzoo, Jean Grae, Talib Kweli, Nitty Scott MC, Rapsody, Little Brother, The Foreign Exchange, Phonte...etc - all artists with wit and intelligence and originality and coherent, structured thoughtful similes, metaphors - then people will never hear them unless they know where to look for these artists and I find that highly frustrating that people like Nicki Minaj get played everywhere where she has no talent whatsoever.
Why does he dress like this? When he is 55 years old?
I've sadly had the bad luck to be at an event where he has been a DJ recently I'll give you a quote from what he was saying during a song.
"I want to see some pussy tonight, brap let's get down and dirty where all the girls tonight, yeh baby you shake that"
I mean, seriously. I actually think he has something wrong with him.
this is what I am on about in my post...all hes done is promote the bad hip-hop that has that drivel, hes done nothing for the actual talented artists.....hes an embarrassment and i avoid his shows, anything he does like the plague

Kendrick Lamar is coming and won't be underground for much longer. Unless I underestimate the public's taste even more than I usually do, Monday will be a great day for him.
Complete knob who seems to have forgotten he is white and from a rich background.
He's a complete knob for trying to be something he isn't/wasn't. He should have kept away from all the hip hop stuff and just concentrated on being a dj who played great reggae stuff. He Didn't really need to embrace that Genre of music but i know what your saying and in that respect you have a point.
Not sure why he shouldn't have embraced Hip Hop, if he was still a reggae only DJ he would never be as respected, well-known or rich as he is now.
Dave Pearce went from playing soul to trance, Carl Cox from hardcore to Techno.....very few DJ's that have survived the test of time are playing the same now as they were in the 80's or 90's.
Whether you think the street gangsta thing is an act or not, surely you can't deny that he alone has done more for Hip Hop in the UK than anyone else?

Good luck to him......whoever he is.

He did make a funny comment on safe sex once though..... 'Strap it up, before you slap it up'

Subject of my favourite celebrity shooting so fair play to him
