Amazing how localised this is. Snowing really heavily here again in Maidstone.

Just got the log burner on, bowl of porridge and enjoying watching the dog frolic about in the whiteout outside.

Not really. Showers by their nature are localised. We don't have an easy way of measuring rain showers to compare them, especially if we don't witness them. Snow on the other hand ...

The Met Office forecasters are on a hiding to nothing because they are required by government to issue warnings but inevitably, when showers are involved, many will wonder what the fuss was about.

    you sicko
  • Who are these nutters that expect a Charlton takeover???

  • Sorry, but some of the jokes on here are more akin with the takeover thread. Please take your smut over there.
This is a serious thread for serious people worried about the imminent end of the world.

    Fixed.
  • Decent settling of snow overnight and brilliant blue skies now. Have to say my little corner of Yorkshire is looking picturesque.
  • Bloody blizzard outside now.

Must be a good 10 inches (insert your own pun) there now Addickted??
  • had a fair bit overnight but my Hastings to CX train still ran on time.
  • Woke up looked at my road and was covered no gritter had been down there, also next road was just as bad. But once i got to the main roads in Sevenoaks i was fine all way to East Croydon, so much panic over nothing so far.
Work called me up yesterday and asked if needed, can i stay in the hotel until Thursday? as its supposed to get worse, fingers crossed dont have to but have brought an overnight bag just incase.

Same thing for me in gravesend. My road looks like a Christmas card. Got round the corner onto a main road & there was absolutely nothing.

All the schools around here are closed though. We really are a soft nation when it comes to snow!

Hopefully it clears ahead of your trip to DVH

This was the week that my wife was due and this was my worst fear that the snow would come!! - Didnt think it would as already snowed twice this winter (albeit not much)
  • Well we have had 9” (23cm) of snow so far here down in lawless Maidstone and it’s still coming down.
    The end is nigh.

    Maidstone this morning!

that's great - it's hiding all the rubbish strewn across the streets!
    Says the man from Greenwich.

You don't realise the first World problems we have down here in Maidstone. Just spent the last ten minutes shifting the snow so my electric gates can open.
Gosh, don’t you have a fellow from the village to do that for you? Our one licks our drive clear for us, and he’s a very reasonably priced chap
  • Have had a good few inches here in Chatham and it's still coming down hard. Trains were sort of running this morning but I sort of didn't even bother.
  • Started snowing in Gravesend again. Better rush out and get milk & bread

The forecast did say it was a narrow band, which some people getting a lot and others nearby nothing, so pretty accurate really.

I was obviously being sarcastic, but it's actually chucking it down now!
  • Started snowing heavy here, Dark Sky been saying it should have started at 8am.... two hours later it finally arrives.
  • had a fair bit overnight but my Hastings to CX train still ran on time.

Doubt you will be so lucky tomorrow as it's going to freeze up tonight.

  • Just started in Kidbrooke but I’d describe it more as sleet, no chance of work being called off at all this week if this is anything to go by, Mind you there aren’t many people here today
  • @valleyaddick What is inside that loving looking out building at the end of your garden? please don't tell me its stuffed full of garden tools.

Looks like it could belong in the Alps.
  • Snowing again here in Borough Green & a lot heavier than earlier. I was supposed to be going to Maidstone for an Investment Lunch hosted by (ironically) Invesco Perpetual (their logo shows Mount Everest). love their quarterly updates on stockmarkets etc but think I may have to give it a miss today.

No tools! Just a few kitchen units and utensils for the pizza oven (on the left) and a wall of charlton shirts
