Palace S/Ts for next season on sale on Saturday - desperate ?

Palace this morning unveiled several incentives to sign up early for your Selhurst seat in the 2013-14 campaign, including a promise to freeze season tickets at this season’s rate even if the promotion-chasing Eagles go on to reach the Premier League.

The offer applies to the first stage of the season ticket sale, which gets underway on Saturday ahead of Blackpool’s visit to SE25.

Supporters are being urged to sign up now because Palace say the present price scheme will change if the club do go up in May.

Prices currently start at £360 per season for adults.

Other incentives to buy now include:

Free season tickets for U10s in the family areas (one free ticket for every adult ticket purchased).

Junior season ticket prices apply up to U18 and prices start from just £5 per game/£115 per season.

Junior season tickets may be used by adults at no extra charge for midweek evening games.

A new concession category offers discounted prices for the 18-21 year age group. Prices start at £199 for the season.

Discounts for full-time students of all ages and those aged over 65.

A new 12-month instalment plan from £35 per month.

Crystal Palace’s new instalment plan means that supporters who enrol in the scheme can pay for their season tickets by standing order in 12 equal monthly instalments.

The first instalment is in January 2013 and the last is in December 2013.

    Some attractive offers for students and I like the idea of no fee for upgrades midweek.

    If the numbers add up to make it viable financially is another thing but well done them.

    Of course it is still a ticket for Selhurst and we have been offering great discounts and deals for decades.

    Well as I've been a S/T holder for 40 years I won't be tempted, can't speak for others, but I'm not anticipating a rush of defectors. Apologies to Charlton if everyone now rushes off to Palace.

    That's a good idea for the midweek tickets would welcome something like that.

    maybe they think if they can get the ST money in early they can avoid selling Zaha or another player or even use it to strengthen. Or just pay the electricity bill.

    Risky game spending next years money now. Jordan made that mistake.

    Their chairman is a very shrewd businessman, who turned around a stodgy old company over a few years before selling out. He has a good background.

    Sounds like they could be desperate for cash or they don't have much faith in their chances if going up - why sell tickets cheap if they don't need the money or they believe they will be in the premiership next season... Happy days

    Had to laugh when a mate couldn't understand the rationale behind the "one free u10 ticket per adult ticket" offer, as it opens up to some huge guys buying them just so they could straddle two seats!! The mind boggles at this...

    From the outside you can never really tell if owners are doing a good honest job but from what I've seen these palace owners are looking after the short and long term finances of their football club. I would love it if they sold zaha in january and plummeted down the league but at the same time I would also recognise a clubs finances being managed sensibly.

    You might recall we did the same in the target 10,000 days - i think it was £5 or £10 for young kids. I snapped one up, in the genuine hope that my kids would start to come to games (they were just getting old enough), but the reality was it was a no-brainer as it meant you effectively reserved the seat next to you for (adult) friends who fancied coming to the occasional game - esp out-of-town genuine fans who won't buy a S/T. They would have to upgrade or buy a normal ticket, but would always be able to sit next to you.

    Like others here, i think this is a smart move by Palace, and further evidence of business savvy from their owners (I used to play 5-a-side with one of them, Steve Browett, & can assure you he's no Jordan-like plonker)

    They put money in to their club because they were buggered without it. They want their money back but don’t want to have to sell the team to get it as that leaves them shit with disgruntled support, as per SJ era

    The selling, cheap, when they are in good form makes sense, but I'm more interested in how their finances are if they are looking to raise next season's income before we are half way thought this season.

    If they sell a significant number of tickets, then sell a player to two in January they could be in real trouble by the autumn if they don't go up!
