Love the guy and think some are being a little harsh on him but i think we are finding out that are TWO star strikers from last season are not the best options in a higher division but like everyone hope im now proven wrong and both of them start playing with the form they had least season.
I love yann but personally think he's over rated and looks out of his depth.
Like Semedo was in some ways, loved because of his commitment and strength but I just don't think he's good enough.

%100 agree with this, he is over rated big time, hulse is another level above kermo. Never understood the fuss about kermo, charlton fans just feel in love because he played with a bandage on his head once,. When you watch him play he doesn't do much just my opinion.
Hulse over Yann for me too. Yann is no more skillful than Hulse and is by no stretch of the imagination our best player. As much as it pains me to say it,Yann looks overweight &unfit. I'm aware he's been injured but his input has been minimal at best. I hope we keep Hulse, he's a worthy addition to the team.
totally agree with this - i rated kermo as our most influential player last year - not this year - he needs to shed a stone and has always been a bit suspect with the ball at his feet. Shame, coz he was immense last year.

I'm sorry, but last season he was absolutely immense for us. You obviously can't have actually watched him play much to have come to the opinion he doesn't do much!!!
i agree that we seem to hoof it to yann when he plays. Last season it worked with bwp running on to his flick on's but a step up and defences seem to deal with it quite easily. I however dont thinking dropping Yann is the answer. Yann is good with the ball at his feet, CP should be telling the defence and midfield not to hoof it up to him.
Hoofing it up to him is an option but try it occasionally not all the time as it rarely works
Agree with this. It's not Yann's fault but for some reason as soon as he sets foot on the pitch the rest of the team seem to resort to the long ball. As good as Yann is in the air he's always going to struggle to win anything decent when both centre backs can just concentrate on him, knowing the rest of the team are a good 20 yards further back.

Just my opinion, had a season ticket and went least 7 away games i saw enough, how many goals he get for a striker in league one 11 i think which isnt great, his flick ons %99 of the time go no where, hulse reads the game so much better. Id put bwp, wiggins, solly, morrison and jackson as more influential players in the league one campain than him.

Let's not forget that he has just come back from longterm injury so is not (yet) at the top of his game.
That said it is a fair point to question whether he is (will be) as effective at the higher level particularly given Hulse's good form.
My response is that the jury is still out. He's managed 3 goals in a truncated season and only Jackson has more I think.
Hulse has more Len I believe he's our joint top scorer. I love kermo but like Cypriot addick says, Hulse reads the game alot better and although his first touch is a little suspect his movement is fantastic and with this brings others into the game
I'll judge Yann when he's fully fit and has had a run in the team. I'm not writing off a player that almost single-handedly won us the league last year.

Single handedly along with Hamer, Solly, Wiggins, Morrison, Taylor, Jackson, Hollands, & BWP, to mention a few :-)
Even if you just go on goals & assists i think BWP might have something to say about Yann winning us the league, im sure he came top in both sections but then he was "lazy" to some people.
It is nice to have some good options available, but, for me, Hulse and Haynes are the only two that make a proper partnership. Yann and Fuller are great to bring off the bench, but they are both rather individual players, always capable of making or getting a goal, but the whole team has not looked as compact when they play
Can't stomach this Yann bashing. To say he can't read the game is an absolute insult to the man. He's had one full 90 mins since injury, where the team generally was woefully short on midfield creativity and pace and yet he still managed to knock in a goal. As mentioned by someone above, a fully fit Yann complemented by pace on the wings and Danny Haynes as a foil could be deadly.
At the moment Charlton are just a solid defensive unit. And fair play to Powell - if they tried to out play teams they'd probably be below Peterboro now. I therefore can't see the point of slagging of strikers in a team that is set out to defend every game and hope to nick a goal or 2 on the break.
There's rarely any perspective when it comes to rating our players. Someone said that 99% of Yann's flicks go nowhere. I mean, that's just a level of criticism that goes so far beyond fair you'd think it was harsh being levelled at a Palace player. Hulse is good. Yann is also good. Quite why people feel the need to disparage one player to show their support for another I don't know. We're lucky that we have two good, strong strikers who can compete with each other and drive each other on. We don't have to sacrifice one to maintain the status quo
I also have him as a favourite player and agree with your assessment. He wins so many headers (at 6'½" he is not tall for a forward) because is clever in that he stands his ground, and moves forward at the last moment to get his head on the ball. If only he would back in and bring it down on his chest he would be a much better player.

It's a step up and not all can make it but I hope he does as he typifies our club.
I can't believe that more people gave BWP slack last season and the beginning of this one than Yann has been given on his way back from injury.

He might be 'only' a loanee - but his attitude and contribution has been 100%.
Definitely an unsung hero.
