    I assumed it was in the public domain by the very fact that I myself heard it on Radio Kent and thought this site was a good medium for expressing my best wishes.

    Len: I can't see any reason why this thread should be a problem. Our history dictates the caring, compassionate nature of our club and support and I'm sure Colin and his family would be touched by the good wishes of the Charlton family. Charlton blood runs through Colin. Fact.

    Colin is a proper professional, in an area where there aren't as many as there once were. If he tells you something's right, it is - always. He's got an eye for detail that's second to none, and he thinks like a journalist. Many's the time I've had a tug on the sleeve as I've strolled off to the press box, and Colin's whispered "I tell you what might be useful to you today..." and it invariably is.

    In addition to that, he's one of the nicest, most genuine and sincere men you could ever hope to meet. He's sat in press boxes alongside my grandfather, my Dad and now me, and despite being by some margin the least able of the three, he'd never let me know as much.

    I look forward to seeing him back at The Valley soon, and for many seasons to come. Somewhere, deep in a notebook, he's currently making a note - "First illness relating to a Charlton statistician and historian causing the missing of a home game since 1973-74, when coincidentally the mascot's Dad's best mate had played in a trial at Bromley..."

    And because it's Colin, that's a note you can rely on. Hope he gets well very soon indeed.

    I worked with the irreplaceable Colin for 20 years.Can anyone tell me which hospital he is in or has he been released.I would dearly love to visit him.
