  • If zaha is worth 10 mill how much is Ince worth?
  • An old family friend & Palace fan who occasionally socialises with some of the Palace board says he was told that Zaha was always off in January to the highest bidder and that is why Freedman left.

Not saying it is completly true but thought i would add it.

Freedman may have also had a slight interest in the £150K pa wage rise ?
  • Don't know if mentioned already but Tom Soares Tweeted last night wishing him all the best at Arsenal.

Yes im sure it did but i was told by what i class as a very reliable friend with contacts, that he was told that Zaha would be sold in January to balance the books & so when an offer came in he took it as he see's Bolton as a more ambitious club.

Not saying he is right or wrong, just what i have been told.
  • Off to Man Utd with a loan back to Palace until the end of the season according to my good source. Still bids on the table from Spurs and Ars*nal too but Zaha wants Utd.
  • and fee way off the 20m Palarse said they wanted
  • Correct. More like £8m with add ons up to £10-12m max.
  • He's an Arsenal fan appararently so fingers crossed he'll make a last minute move there as Wenger won't loan him back

Agreed plus think it will be a better career move for him to go to one of the north london clubs.

These buy and loan back deals are often touted and I think happen quite regularly in Italy, but they don't seem to happen as much in England. What happens if he breaks his leg before the end of the season ?

I guess its the same with a Bosman. We've recently signed Lewis Holtby from Shalke on a Bosman but he's staying with Shalke until July.

In that case Holtby is seeing out his contract with Schalke, and has signed a pre-contract agreement to join Spurs after his deal in Germany expires
  • Holtby will be one to watch.

Agreed. I've seen a bit of him and he looks very good indeed.
  • 12 million ? .. that is a lot but he's potentially better than the equally expensive Oxlade-Chamberlain. How much will Ince go for? .. to my mind he is the best of the three, although, as is said of racehorses, Zaha could be 'anything'
  • Not being funny or anything, but he's got 5 goals this season so far.
Thats the same as Haynes who must've played only about 10/11 games, and the same as Jackson who many charlton fans have felt has had a disappointing season.

I'm sure he offers more than just his 5 goals, but 12million seems outrageous.
  • Isn't he more a winger than a striker?
  • They play him on the wing with Bolasie on the other side and Murray up front by himself.

Come on, I know we hate them but even you must agree Wilfred Zaha's a better investment for Manchester United than Johnnie Jackson ?

Murray has had about 10 penalties this season as well, Zaha has pretty much won all of them.*

    *this could be made up.

  • I'm not comparing JJ to Zaha as a transfer, i'm just saying this kid has 5 goals this season which isn't that incredible.
Ince has 13 already, in a worse team, but no ones suggesting he's worth 12 million.

PS, i am fully aware that goals are not the only measure of a players value
  • He himself has scored five goals, but the number of others he will have set up either directly or by winning penalties and freekicks will be considerable. And if a good coach can get him scoring more goals he could be something really quite special, much as I dislike anything to do with that lot.
  • For me, any top young English youngster who has a pick of the top clubs has got to have Manchester United top of the list every time. The way Arsenal are going, he would end up going there and developing a bit for a few years before being deemed "unfulfilled potential" without any trophies to his name and wanting to get away to a club like United.

I agree. Manchester United are also about the only 'top' club who develop and use English/British talent as far as possible. United need Zaha. Nani is supposedly offski and Young has not developed as much as was hoped. I still have a sneaky feeling that Chelsea will nick him, although as Tom says, United must be top choice for any ambitious young and very talented player

My problem with that statement is that Utd or Fergie's management style is win at all costs, Chelsea have been the same until recently, which has made some great players but is in my opinion why we can't compete with many of the other so called "bigger" nations when it comes to competative matches, if we want England to have a good chance of matching teams like Germany/Italy/Spain/Argentina/Brazil and others long term, we need managers like Fergie as far away from Englands youth as possible.

Might well be something in what you say, Newbie.
Haven't Palace been awarded something like 14 penalties already?

  • Man utd have reached an agreement to sign Zaha in July in the of15mill
  • Once he's at Man U I wish him nothing but success but am I the only one hoping that he gets a non-career threatening injury that keeps him out of Palace's side for the rest of the season.... ?
  • Worst of both worlds innit. They get £10m in the bank and the use of arguably the divisions best player for the rest of the season.

Wonder what the arrangements are re:injuries, etc? If say he did a cruciate between now and July do United get a bit off? All a bit of a strange one.

According to John Inverdale on Radio5Live .. he is being loaned back to (sic) Stamford Bridge. You'd think for the money these BBC boys earn they could write and read a decent script. I fail to see the point of loaning back. See Leaburns' post above. Zaha will not give 100% for fear of injury and United could use the rest of the season to induct him at Old Traf. Very strange
