1/2 and Full Marathons (shameless request to charitable people)

Hi guys

Please sponsor me for these events here:
uk.virginmoneygiving.com/fundraiser-web/fundraiser/showFundraiserPage.action?userUrl=Dazzler21&faId=272026&isTeam=false I am raising money for children in the Sussex and Surrey areas with heart conditions and also for the NSPCC so my target is more £1000 plus rather than £500 and I need as much help as possible to get us there.

I will appreciate any donations, I know we have done so much for Demelza but I was unable to get a race position sponsoring them.

You all know this will take me a while!(not the fastest in the world)

  • Hi guys.

Sadly I am facing redundancy and half my team at work have gone already, I am in dire need of sponsors for an amazing cause.

It would be amazing if anyone can make donations to help me meet the minimum I have to raise of £500.00.

I really appreciate your time to look at my page above.
  • my wifes doing this one.. perhaps I'll sponsor her to run in CAFC related top..
  • massive thanks those guys that have sponsored me such generosity leaves me speechless.
  • Bump for Dazzler
  • Ah cheers @LenGlover

I would like to say a massive thanks to @BaronPaolo, @LenGlover and @Masicat for their generous donations.
  • just over a week to go not been able to train this week got an acute onset of knee pain and being very guarded about it.
  • Great charity. Well worth a few quid!

Done Brighton twice. First 13 miles is a bit up and down. Second half is very flat through the town. The support is absolutely fantastic. Well marshalled and plenty of water and energy drink stops (not to mention kids out around the route dishing out jelly babies, chocolate and bananas).

Gets a bit tough around the 20 mile mark when it goes into the power station complex. A bit dull and lifeless, and no support, so it's very quiet. Crank the ipod up and kick on! You come out of there at about 23 miles and it's a dash for he line. Piece of piss.......*ahem*!

    Good luck.
  • erm, I thought of doing something similar for just the London Marathon... I will sponsor you if you sponsor me Dazzler21!! I will be running for Asthma UK... begging bowl will be coming round imminently C-Lifers!

I had a bit of a dodgy knee for a bit but bought a Neo-G knee strap for £20 and the support is great. Don't feel anything during or after anymore, touchwood. Foam rollers are good as well to iron out knots.

Loving my marathon training for London at the moment. Got 15 miles pencilled in for Sunday before the Tunbridge Wells HM and then the Thanet 20 miler.
  • You wait until the taper week. You'll feel every tiny tweak, niggle, and ache, and feel like your body is falling apart. It's nerves more than anything. Something that you'd usually fob off as an "achey toe" all of a sudden feels like a broken leg! Good thing about the taper is that you can offset the 'pain' by scoffing yourself silly with pasta, chicken, pizza, spuds and whatnot for three days prior to the run, and justify it a 'carb-loading'. It's my favourite part of the training!

    Consider that a deal sir!

And thanks Groucho for your donation sir, very appreciated.
  • Bump

Good times there Dazzler. Did the Tunbridge Half Marathon yesterday which is stupidly hilly. Managed to get sub 1.50 which I'm happy about in the run up to London: http://runkeeper.com/user/glennsoutham/activity/151857716

    Thanet 20 miler next weekend...

My VLM page, Run For Mum, if people can spare a few quid is here: http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/glennsoutham
  • Cheers Glenn for your sponsorship, I'll return the favour on pay day, massive thanks to everyone who has supported me so far!
  • Cheers Dazzler and Len for your kind donations.
  • Just finished the Thanet 20 Miler through Ramsgate, Broadstairs and a Viking Ship in 2hrs 49mins. Nice enough scenery but boring as hell - no iPods allowed.
  • Well done WSS (sorry I can't help out atm).
