  • who did we get
  • 1 of the worst cup draws I can ever remember. Not 1 stand out game

This. Barring the possible Brentford v Chelsea game a very boring draw

    Brighton v Swansea/Arsenal
    Crystal Palace/Stoke v Man City

4 home draws for championship sides against premier league opposition.
  • Might have a couple of quid on Brighton this year to reach final
  • Stoke V Man City will be good and small get an easy run again!
  • So Millwall get Villa
    Palarse maybe Man City
    and we get shafted
  • Brighton v Arsenal/Swansea is the stand out for me, either match should be decent enough.
  • Just watched Mansfield Liverpool. Great game, JohnJohn (as Keegan calls him) knocked in a couple of great passes, Mansfield played great and were robbed by a Suarez handball. Just put our performance into perspective.
Suarez should have owned up to his handball. He would have won a lot more by doing so.

Yep, I watched that too from Paris. Suarez is a disgrace. Felt Mansfield players were too soft not to protest.
This has cost Mansfield a very lucrative replay, money they desperately needed.

  • Suarez would never own up, he's a horrible little cheat! Ref's mistake though.
  • Suarez should be done with either bringing the game into disrepute or ungentlemany conduct.
  • Think Suarez handball was an impulse reaction to a ball coming at him at speed, rather than a premeditated cheat.
People should be mullering the lino and ref for not doing their job - how freaking difficult can it have been to see that.
Suarez could have owned up? Yeh , right, every other player would have done that wouldn't they?
  • Liverpool were guilty of at least 3 handballs in the box before then in the second half anyway, ref was never going to give one
  • If it was anyone else, no-one says anything. Fact.

Has he meant it? Almost certainly not.
  • So we would've had Leicester at home. How many can honestly say they would of been up for that. However being from Sussex and knowing loads of Brighton fans can only be jealous of Arsenal potentially making a visit.
  • said in another thread but what a draw for brentford! If they can make it through...

Live in ealing and go to see them once or twice a season. Got a soft spot for them, hope they get through and take it to a replay.

Not so sure that we would, aren't the numbered balls allocated on an alphabetical basis ?

What would be a stand out game ??

I think lower leagye v prem are decent enough cup ties for the chance of an upset oldham v liverpool
    Leeds/birm v spurs
    And brighton v swans/arsenal

Palace/stoke v man city will be decent enough whoever goes through

Only when new teams are entering the competition (e.g. Prem and Champ teams in the 3rd round). Otherwise the numbers relate to the order that the previous round's games were drawn in.
  • 4 th round draw !!!! thought that was a myth.

Nope, we'd have had the same number Huddersfield got so would've got the same draw. Leicester at home.

    ...
Interestingly, and because I'm bored, our number would've been the same regardless (no.7). Leicester were no.12 in the draw which, if all the teams were given numbers alphabetically, would've been Fulham or Blackpool. So a home tie to one of those had we got through and it was done alphabetically. And because I bothered to do the whole thing like this, I got ties like:

    Manchester City vs Macclesfield Town
    Luton Town vs Liverpool

Those games would've been good viewing!

Of course when the draw's done alphabetically, just one different result can change a whole load of numbers. Huddersfield would've been ball no.12 and drawn away to the new no.7; Chelsea.

That massive fixture everyone is going nuts about missing out on

  • I remember watching us lose at home to Leicester in the 5th round a few years back and, sit down everybody, Marcus Bent looked quite decent for them!

Cups and Charlton just don't go together.
  • Not sure about anyone else but im holding on to the faith that we can only do well in the cups 2 years out of every Century so mark your Calendar for the 2046 & 2047 finals.

  • Middlesbrough are having a tough run
  • So happy that Brentford have got their Chelsea tie now!
