Theres no recent thread on any of the Palace boards I look at. And if there are, it's only between Millwall and Brighton; and the bandits from the south coast win hands down everytime.

I don't mind you lot. Harmless club with a decent manager. Never had a problem with Charlton.

    Thankyou for not minding us.
If you look on your own forum prior to the game at the valley you will see lots of stuff. My personal favourite is 'how do I get to Charlton without shitting myself' or something like that.
Agreed - there was a LOT of talk from Palace boards in the build-up to the game. There seems to be this idea that Palace fans think they are winding us up by talking about their hatred of Millwall/Brighton over Charlton. Really doesn't change anything on our end. Charlton will always despise Palace and everything they stand for.

For me, being bought up as a Charlton fan in s.e London despite meeting all of about 3 cpfc fans in my life- I will always despise them for the selhurst years. Those slimey fuckers tried to kick us under and that is something I will hold against them . What they think of Charlton is merely immaterial.

They don't help themselves by later on creating an ultras section & making "provocative banners" - I hate that in itself. Why sap tradition from a football club that had very little tradition to begin with?

The freaks have actually done that video
  • Manufactured rivalry to give a purpose to two small clubs who have never lifted a cup. I image there were clubs in the 70s/80s who we it always kicked off with but didn't need to create a rivalry over it. Note the big club who gets a mention at the end.

that second video is strange. once again they don't care about us that much that they couldn't help but have dig at the end. what a bunch of effing morons. don't mention us if you don't care ffs! how difficult is that? that club just needs disposing of. they're soooo thick that they can't get through their thick sculls that we don't care what they think of us. someone said it recently on here that sheffield wednesday and palace fans are the thickest there are, i would add deluded and pathetic to that as well.

but you'll never hear the holmesdale singing they hate charlton.......

Just a little bit of nostalgia for you younger lads, I remember going over to Sellout early in the 1995/6 season which was their second home game and they had just had that double tier stand built at the Holmesdale Road end. Although Barnsley had visited a couple of weeks earlier and got beat 4-3, I am prerry sure Lee Bowyer scored in that end for us in a 1-1 draw as I seem to remember a group of us renaming it the 'Lee Bowyer Stand'. Anyway I have referred to it thus ever since, to a few Palace fans I know which gets right up their nose. Sadly we lost out to them in the play offs that year 1-2 at home and 0-1 away but we had the last laugh when Steve Claridge, (hence the song 'Claridge in the last minute') scored very late on in extra time for Leicester at Wembley to seal their promotion and leave Palace down with us. Oh what joy! :o)

Blimey was it that long ago? I remember jumping around my mates living room when Claridge scored, then realising that every one else at his kids 8th birthday party didn't have a clue what the fuck was happening. Hate that football club with a passion.

Charlton away is like Watford away, it's a day where the whole family can go and bring the young kids. Always a fun day.

Quite right to Maestro, I don't think anyone at Charlton is mongy enough to attack families or people not looking for it. Your lot on the other hand seemed to be quite proud about doing that at Sydenham, must be a Surrey thing.

Haha you can't make this stuff up. Did your lippy ultras end up in hospital at watford aswell then?
  • Was chatting to my son and his mates in the Con the other day about where to drink at palace (bless 'em) - come out of Norwood Junction and get in the first pub you see - easy, allways has been

Exactly - thats what we do at home to palace, no trouble at all locally and a laugh at the boys in black - great day out

Still don't know whether to go to this on my own.............. Football's always been a family thing for me so it's weird that no-one at home is as keen as I am. Leaves me in a bit of a hole wondering what to do.

It would be my first time at Selhurst, someone needs to convince me that spending 50 quid on a ticket and travel alone is a good idea.
