    £2.6m, honestly....

We didnt pay that. I think it may have been the maximum had certain things happened, golas appearnces etc. I think i heard the actul figure was more like £500k

They had a few at Everton that looked good prospects, i.e Jeffers, Michael Branch and Danny Cadamarteri, but just seemed to sink lower and lower.

You can take the boy away from scouse..........

At the time i thought 2.6m was an absolute bargain!

Absolutely insane. Shows how crazy the market for strikers went. How could we possibly afford it?

Could understand it if it was , say £500,000 with add-ons for appearances etc. But 2.6 million is ridiculous. Tch, cuh!

I doubt we paid £2.6m for Jeffers, that was the headline fee, most likely we paid around £500k down and then stage payments, from memory the next was due after 25 games and Curbs had seen enough and he spent the rest of his Charlton career on loan or on the piss.
  • Always thought he would be a decent sweeper

    now that's quality..............

Just signed for Accrington to partner James Beattie up front, obviously Stanley are relying on youth to get them up the league.

Good signing for that level. How much? Just hope it wasnt £2.6 mil like he cost us!
  • Met and spoke to him in Autumn when playing for Floriana in Malta.Saw him every day since Floriana train in my Football ground. His main asset, which was his pace,is gone.He tried hard here but did not impact at all.

Saw him at Accrington last night as part of my 92 quest. Absoultely crap,I'm afraid I think Stanley are doomed. He should very little interest and looked unfit.Beattie and Jeffers 10 years ago would have been a good combo, certainly not now.

Not sure about all the negativity about him especially as he appears to have finally sorted himself and got the top job at Vatican City .

No difference to when he was at The Valley, his team mates carrying him.

Saw Beattie score a couple of good goals for them on the football league show a few weeks back. Wonder what sort of money they're on down there.

If Jeffers falls any lower he'll be turning out for Welling in the Conference next season.

Accrington are heading for administration, so I'm clueless how they are paying Beattie & Jeffers.

Apparently a bit like Edgar Davids at Barnet they are playing for expenses only and the club's owners are going to ensure the other players are paid before Saturday.

I have a real dilemma tomorrow when they play Barnet.I love the story around the phoenix club which brought Accrington back into the league, but Barnet are my favourite League 2 side,a diplomatic draw is not really enough for either of them.

OMG yet another striker that begins scoring the moment we get rid of him! What the f*** does Chris Powell think he's playing at. Get him back in immediately and put him up front with Clark and Benson. What could possibly go wrong? £2.6 million pounds is a bargain!

    Powell out now!

he scored 2 goals last night in Accrington Stanley's 4-0 win over AFC Dons and helped lift them out of the relegation zone, so Bumble will be happy over in NZ..............John Sullivan in goal for the AFC.
