Last Saturday the Kassam Stadium in Oxford played unwitting host to an unprecedented gathering. When Oxford United took on Port Vale there were no fewer than three players on the pitch who had served lengthy prison sentences for causing death by dangerous driving.
Between them Oxford’s Adam Chapman and Luke McCormick and Vale’s Lee Hughes had, through their carelessness, taken four lives. Four people who might have been at the game were not in attendance.
