mayday

How fecking annoying was that? Feel as if I have wasted 5 hours of my life.
Got to the point where I couldn't give a flying feck who the killer was and what happened to seth and his brother? What spells did Hattie cast on the copper? A erection spell, could he not have got some viagra? Arrrrhhhhh BBC drama was like watching Charlton at home!

    Haha. Just said the same.

What happened to the forensic bag with hair in it?

Yes it was rather a naff ending.... after ALL THAT.

I watched the first episode. Decided I did not want to waste any more time on a load of pretentious bollocks.

I thought it was good myself.

a lot of unanswered questions. what happened to Seth? Assume Linus Dad was ok now the hair was 'lost'. Is Hattie's sister going to haunt the copper for life? How did the copper get Hattie up the tree?

No wonder Peter Firth's character hung himself - bankrupt, witnesses a murder, was a creepy perv and had a fruitcake for a wife.

    Still enjoyed it though !!

Absolute twaddle sorry folks! Huge disappointment

the feeding the ashes to the dog made me laugh - Seth was killed by lotties Dad, Linus' Dad out and got it back on with the coppers miserable missus before killing her, Lotties sister haunted the copper until he topped himself whilst practicing auto asphyxiation, Seths brother ran off to europe with his kid where they were slaughtered by a gang of pixies in germany. Did no -one else see episode 6?

I thought it was one of the best BBC dramas for a long time. Enjoyed it and found it "different" and full of suspense. Well filmed. Only found it a little unreal at times when the pauses between peoples conversations were abnormally long and pensive. Overall, would expect it to be nominated for and given awards when the time comes.

Made me glad I live in a safe big city. Small towns and villages far too dangerous and full of loonies as this documentry showed

If you think that place was bad, you should see the doc on ITV filmed around Causton...

I watched all 5 episodes & thought it was rather good although it was a bit of a tame ending.......do we assume that the copper gets away with it and if so where is the justice in that ?

also, is it only me that thought that Peter Firth's wife is a "wouldya" contender ??

That Midsummer reality TV show is the same. Why don't the police do something?

Shameless and Royle Family were goods docs about life in the north.

When he killed Hattie she said ill come back for you. So my guess would be that he doesn't get away with it.

Ok why the kebab shop man, what was in linus dads bag locked in the cupboard, how the feck did he get her up a tree? What did linus dad do to the coppers wife? Why was the coppers daughter biting herself? If I started hanging dolls from the upper tier north stand would you not ask what the feck is going on? The dad accused linus of killing his mum for leaving toys around the stairs! Feck me thanks bbc what a load of shit.

The only one I can answer scabby horse is that in Linus's dads bag was his dead wife's possessions that he was going to dump but could not bring himself to it.

For me it was gripping enough to keep watching each episode even if I did think everyone in the village was completely psychotic and the police seemed strangely absent and happy to let the locals wander all over the woods in search for a missing girl.
I just thought the ending was a bit of a let down because it felt to me that the writers set up a load of suspects and then just picked one out of a hat and said yeah he did it.
And the supernatural stones bouncing off the head bits were just a bit odd until the denouement where it seemed Hattie was some sort of potent member of the Magic Circle.
It did have a lot of gaps in the story, but that's true of a lot of drama on TV.
That said, it was still pretty engaging for what it was even if the ending seemed a bit of a "it was all a dream" conclusion.

Well, as I saw it Scabbyhorse, the kebab shop man was there to show Linus was neglected, Large explained the bag - this was clearly explained in the show, but you had probably lost the will to live by then; what Linus' Dad actually did to the copper's wife isn't relevant as she is a bit of a bunny boiler and has obviously taken umbrage at something so minor that Linus' Dad can't even remember it. The coppers daughter was traumatised because her Dad's change in personality had unhinged her - see the chat she had with Dad in the alleyway - added to that she had her Mum's aforementioned bunny boiler genes, so she was self harming. Lesley Manville's character never got to see her husband again after she found the body hanging in the model tree, so couldn't ask him, or if you mean the bits of dolls and ribbons hanging in the woods, I don't think they were down to anyone in particular, or if they were down to Seth, I didn't think anyone actually knew it was him? I might be wrong on that? Finally I don't think he really accused Linus of killing her as such, he had to explain why he never wanted to talk about the death when Linus was lining him up as a double murderer in his mind. I thought he clearly said it was not his fault, just an accident, at one point?

That's my take on it anyway mate. But I still get why it didn't float your boat - there was a bit of the supernatural mixed in with the reality, which is always hard to follow in what on first observation seems to be a straight drama.

Causton is the county town of Midsommer, Henners, so we are referring to the same show, I thought it was more documentary than reality, but perhaps you are right, I suspect some of the characters might be placed there for effect...

Early Doors is the best fly-on-the-wall about life in the north, if you ask me.
