Saw him once do an after dinner speech, very entertaining. He was the journalist for BBC's Sportsnight in the infamous "Grovel" interview with Tony Grieg in 1976.
AddickFC81.......................Barry Davies will be very sad (and surprised) at the news of his own demise!!?? lol.............RIP TG; seemed like a nice guy!
sad news ....... he was the BBC 'go to man' .. tiddleywinks, archery, curling, skating, football he did the lot .. seemeed to be around for years and years .. now RIP
Damn! One of the very best. A voice that matched TV and belonged there. You know how Emma, the BBC woman, tries really hard to sound like a commentator? Gubba was the ultimate example of when a voice just...fits. Wish I'd told him that rather than random people on a forum. Live and learn...
