One comment i saw on a millwall site just about sums this pathetic 'plan of action' up:
"Don't anyone move. The longer we stand there singing "WEMBERLEEEE", the longer they've got to stand there and listen to it!"
they're idiots. we can just walk out anyway.
We can walk out, but we won't be allowed near the station or on a train home until they've gone. What do the police do if they don't leave? Hardly going to wade in, baton charging them to get them out of the valley are they?
Seems to me that rather than having anything to do with the safety of people getting home, most of this thread is about people being pissed off because they will be inconvenienced.
Unfortunately, that is unavoidable but if everyone gets home safe, imo that inconvenience is justified.
I don't for one minute think that the club are putting profit before safety. I'm sure that all the options were discussed and I am happy to accept that the club and the Police believe that this is the best option until I see otherwise.
Have you ever been to a match or even heard of a match, where home supporters were stopped from making their normal way home until away supporters had been cleared out first? It is ALWAYS away supporters who are held back. Why not in this case?
No I can't say that I have however, I would have thought that the idea was discussed and rejected. I would be very interested in why.
This is my take on it. I presume that the Police intend to escort the scum to the station and stick them on fast trains to London Bridge, where again, I presume that there are plans in place to disburse them.
Effectivly they are simply trying to keep 2 sets of fans apart by having them leave different ends of the ground and I can see the logic in that.

They wont wanna stay if we've just spanked them 3-0
To be honest, I was worried that those wankers having a great cup run would take a bit of a shine off a historic win (*if* we win)...
Now with all this, having once again been made a laughing stock, the prospect of losing on top of all this really does not bear worth thinking about.
Neither does walking back in the pissing rain to Woolwich Dockyard in order to get back to London, and have that load of human garbage get on at Charlton (or any other station) giving it large.
I REALLY hope the team turn up and give it their all.
The only way this is going to work is to is for the police to kettle all 3,000 of them all the way to the station and onto the trains. Seeing as the trains only hold about 1,000 people you'll need 3 of them. I'm dammed sure those who don't want to get on the train will make it known.
25 minutes? and the rest.
Some of the Met's finest brains come up with this shite.
Sorry this may have been covered earlier but what about the Millwall fans that don't need to go to Charlton station? (Most of them lived in Welling I thought?!)

I am a lawabiding citizen and football is a leisure activity.
I do not attend matches to be treated as a common criminal and falsely imprisoned.
I don't know whether the police or Charlton are behind this absurd scheme but, in my experience, if the powers that be in any walk of life are allowed to get away with oppressive behaviour once they get the taste for it and repeat that behaviour.
Charlton, if they are the instigators of this, might think they are being clever in making a one-off killing on bar profits from a captive (literally) audience but people like me will not renew their season tickets if they are to be treated in this fashion on an ongoing basis.
No decent lawabiding fans, home or away, should be oppressed and effectively imprisoned whilst attending a game of football but IF it has to happen then it should be the fans of the team with the greater hooligan reputation, Millwall, who suffer.
If the police are behind this then the scum amongst our support who threw seats, flares, vandalised toilets and cars at away games this season have a lot to answer for.

Once again the decent lawabiding majority suffer.
Len, I know what you're saying but I think it may be an overreaction. They're not imprisoning you, you can leave whenever you like, they're just closing off a potential route home.
I very much doubt that Charlton will make a killing or anything like it at the bar, there was a thread on here recently where Airman estimated profits from beer takings over a season and they were pretty small, one small spike in demand on one day will make bugger all difference. If anything they probably thought it would be a bit of a sweetener to give fans the option while they were waiting to access the station.
And let's also not forget that the majority of Millwall fans (however unsavoury they may be) are also not criminals and therefore to 'imprison' them in the ground on the basis that they have a hooligan reputation wouldn't stand up to your argument anyway.
I'm not saying it's the best solution in the world but I don't think anyone's human rights are being seriously breached either!
It's a cunning plan by the club to get an extra +/- 20,000 pints of lager sold. Think about it, it's a good business ploy and will help pay for grass seed for next season.
Charlton are not being kept in - you can leave just not aloud to proceed to the station or have a beer. I guess what the police want to do is get the scumwall away from the ground as quickly and as easy as possible - they will kettle them to the station just like we had to do at palarse - dont really see what the big deal is.
It might have been nice if the Club had involved the supporters on the Safety Advisory Group to help sell this idea.
A bit of consultation could have gone a long way.
Not happy about how this has been arranged - the kick off time was bought forward weeks ago, the post match arrangements could have been dealt with at the same time? What's changed?

The bar being open seems to be a way of pleasing our fans, not profiteering
Keeping the 2 set of fans apart was always expected
This solution seems extreme but I'd rather it was millwall getting bit by police dogs than us
It won't take 25 minutes so expect an hour or more
It will all go off at London Bridge, Welling etc anyway
Who's to say the ones sitting in our end won't cause more problems/trouble
I really don't believe ALL options were thought out properly and they only decided today to let everyone know !
