Napoli attacker Goran Pandev has backed Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho's suggestions that the election for the Coach of the Year award was flawed.
FIFA has since defended the integrity of the managerial honor, insisting the list of votes published by the world football's governing body is accurate, but Pandev has stressed that his vote as Macedonia captain was wrongly awarded to Spain boss Vicente del Bosque.
"I voted for Mourinho," Pandev told La Sexta Deportes, even though the list published by FIFA has Pandev voting for Del Bosque, ahead of Roberto Mancini and Jurgen Klopp.
"I don't know what has happened here, but it is very strange. I told Mourinho I had voted for him, but I don't know what happened afterwards."
Mourinho eventually finished second in the election behind Del Bosque with 20 percent of the votes.
