Pop Up Ads and 'Your PC performance is poor' message.

Whenever I log onto CL on my desktop recently I get these annoying ads and messages. Doesn't happen on other sites. Anyone else getting this problem?

    An AVG scan is automatically run every day.

    Do you find certain words are highlighted and when you hover over them there is an ad underneath?

    Either way you may be infected with Adware and that's a buggar to get rid of. I recently replaced my PC with a Mac after being infected with Adware. I think I picked mine up from a streaming site that I went into from CL.

    No pop_up ads on CL red. As said, run a virus check. It will be limited to your pc

    Yes, I just noticed that. The word 'Plastic Sugery' in AFKA's post on the Dangerous Dogs thread was highlighed in blue and was a link to an advert.

    I had this once and if you look in your browser settings you can see this adware as an extension(sounds very much the same) you can disable it from there

    Sounds like Adware then I'm afraid. Try googling it for advice. I went round and round in circles, downloading all sorts of Adware cleaners etc. All of them a pile of doodoo. Gave up the ghost eventually. I hope you sort it out better than I could. :-)

    I downloaded it and it found the yontoo virus but it won't fix/remove it unless I pay £20. Am I doing something wrong?

    You could do a system restore, that'll clean it up. Is it RegCleanPro?

    The problem is at the start it's bearable but over time the pop ups keep getting worse and your computer will start getting slower and slower. You'll start getting pop ups telling you your computer is running too slow and advising you to download xxx software to fix it etc, etc. Starts to be a right royal pain in the bum. I gave up eventually (it was time for a new lap top anyway).

    Managed to fix by downloading something called revo uninstaller to remove the yontoo virus.
