  • Technical middle class
  • Technical Middle Class ... apparently it means I come from a middle class background ... didn't know Cherry Orchard Estate was so posh ;-)
  • Yup I'm a new affluent worker - accept that I am retired but have an income though.
  • Emergent Service Worker, god knows what that is all about.

    - Young (correct)
    - Financially insecure (incorrect)
    - Socially and culturally active (I watch Charlton).

I think anyone owning a property in the London area will come out in a middle class category just by virtue of the property valuation question.

I'm no marketing wallah but from my layman's perspective I think the rigour of this survey is questionable at best.
  • It must be Len, it's got me as being ELITE.

  • Technical middle class. My mum will be pleased

  • Technical Middle Class, of course darling. East Stand, don't you know?!?!
  • They're going to rename it the Technical Middle Class stand.
  • Lol @ Wmt
  • Elite, what load of tosh.
Technical middle class would tick most of thier boxes.
As far as I'm concerned anyone that works is working class. Anyone who dont is retired.

It would appear possible, on the basis of this survey and the class that it attributes, that two single people of the same class could, by moving in together & pooling resources, move up the social system. Equally a couple splitting up & moving apart could move down the class order.
  • Effluent worker....... what class bracket do I fit in?

Ha .....I did it including all my genuine social factors, own home but rock bottom income and no savings =Traditional Working Class.

I did it again, with exactly the same social factors, own home but top income and savings = Elite.

So there's the proof: Money is the only thing that counts in Britain today - if you have money/assets, you're regarded as Elite
The rest of society is disregarded!

  • Elite, but I didn't need to be told.
  • Looks like the steak slices will be replaced with prawn sandwiches for next season then.
  • New affluent workers
This class group is sociable, has lots of cultural interests and is in the middle of all the class groups in terms of wealth. According to the Great British Class Survey results, lots of people in this group:

    Are young
Come from a working class background
    Own their own home
  • Precariat aka Street Urchin.

  • Technical Middle Class for me
  • Technical middle class. Sounds wrong, but I'll go with it.
  • Technical middle class. I'm not too sure about the 'technical' bit.

Quite. Maybe I'm misunderstanding the word, but I'd have said I was one of the least technical people in the country.

Maybe it means you're technically middle class but actually as common as muck?

    Sorry, not you personally, "one".
