I was genuinely excited when he signed turned out to be flop it was an important lesson in my opinion that curbs learned from when you look at the midfielders we went on to sign the seasons when we went back up under curbs he soon realised that players like Neil were below the standard of the prem if they didn't have a great work rate to allow for the technique they lacked
It's my opinion that if he didn't learn from them mistakes then players like Claus and kish wouldn't have been bought
Not that Claus was not a class footballer just that for the better more gifted footballers you paid more than what we did for Redfern
He may not have been great for us but signing Redfern was a great learning for us
At Barnsley a few seasons back I went into ASDA before the game .. the very nice (and attractive) lady on the checkout sussed out I was an Addick and she confided in me that she and Neil were an item way back when, and he is a luvvly luvvly fella
He now does quite a bit of punditry on Talksport 2 and does a decent job
