Scottish League Restructure vote...

bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/22151308

The idea of leagues splitting into mini leagues sounds weird to me. The chairman who voted in favour are making out that all of SFL clubs are clinging on for dear life praying this proposal would go through and save them. Fans surveys before the vote proved no one wanted this proposed structure, and it has already been used in Swtizerland where it failed! Personally I think 2 or 3 larger leagues is the way forward, playing every team x2 as opposed to the overkill x4 of the current system.

  • A top league of 16 is the best idea imo. Works in portugal. 15 home, 15 away.play each other twice. none of this playing each other 4 times nonsense. would be 8 games less than now, but that would allow plenty time for a winter break
for a whole league stucture maybe 16-16-10 or promote 6 highland league or junior teams for 16-16-16
I personally would like to see junior team pollok fc become a league team. sometimes they get larger crowds than some league 2 and 3 teams.
  • Glad the littl'uns have stood up for themselves and what they believe in what a helmet that bloke from Aberdeen is.
  • The biggest issue, other than the big 2 sweeping up all the money and fans, is they simply have too many pro teams. You could argue we have to many in England, and it works out here roughly 1 pro club to every 500k of the population. In Scotland it's one pro club to every 200k of the population. To achieve the same ratio as England they'd need to go from having 42 pro clubs down to somewhere in the region of 16. That would actually be sustainable, there simply isn't the money up there to fund 42 squads of players, maintain 42 grounds, etc.
  • I make you right Andy
