Legend has it that the term "Northern Soul" was coined by Dave Godin, who ran a music shop in Deptford and lived in Bexleyheath, to describe the rare records the Northern football fans were buying from his shop on their away days. Not sure how true it is but, being a big fan, like the idea of it (indirectly!) coming from around these parts...

If your into Northern Soul then it's worth considering going down to Camber Sands for the scooter run 28-30th June. We went last year, had a great time bars/music hall open till 5am.0

cracking night. although i didnt know the vast majority of the tunes and the dancing was a bit weird.
