Sunday Politics today

Anyone see Andrew Neiltrying to interview that mental yank conspiracy theorist just now? Not the sort of thing you usually expect to see on a Sunday morning, but what else did they expect having that nutter on?

I guess you mean that utter cretin Alex Jones?

Go check Andrew Neil's Twitter feed, he totally destroys him in one tweet.

That's the kiddie. Being a nutter is one thing, but who's idea was it to invite him on? It was never going to go well. Waste of airtime.

I've been watching him for a while and reading him, Icke, Stuart Wilde etc and they all make some good points surrounded by nonsense. He may behave how they dont want him to and go a little far but alot of what he says makes sense and is bloody interesting.

Nothing he says makes sense. This is largely because he is an absolute, 100%, bona-fide, dribbling, raging loon. HTH

Jesus. He claims to have 3 million listeners in the States. The implication of that is the most terrifying thing

That is me during the Iraq war, looking dead hard and good looking at the same time.
You make an interesting point about the rights and wrongs of the situation, however, anyone who is up that early on a sunday morning to watch shows like Sunday politics should not be entitled to an opinion!

    Haha!

Presumably you don't have kids? Better than any alarm clock!

Alex Jones!? Didn't he sing The Snowman?

That's 3 million Yanks. Probably the same in brain cells as say 50.000 any other nationality!

Never thought I would watch Piers Morgan and be on his side. Astonishing that jones has a serious platform in the USA. Be afraid, be very afraid.

If you think he's outspoken try listening to Rush Limbaugh, Ann Coulter and one or two others.

On the subject of right-wing talk show loons these are some quotes from pat Robertson. He ran for president a few years ago and did reasonably well:

    http://politicalhumor.about.com/od/funnyquotes/a/patrobertson.htm

This is what he said about feminism:

"(T)he feminist agenda is not about equal rights for women. It is about a socialist, anti-family political movement that encourages women to leave their husbands, kill their children, practice witchcraft, destroy capitalism and become lesbians."

    Fair point that, cheers BFR!

the last three of those points look like they are straight out of the labour Party manifesto

Seems that America has a bit of a monopoly on the crazy political talk shows.

It's disappointing that only loons are able to get their voices heard, and not reasonable people on both sides of an argument.

That's the thing though. I can certainly understand the attraction in conspiracy theories. They've sprung up in the last thirty years because, basically, we don't have anything to REALLY worry us any more. All that shit about Bohemian Grove and the Bilderberg group is a prime example. There's no 'conspiracy' in it - it's just a bunch of rich fucks shaping economic and international foreign policy. They're actually very upfront and open about it compared to most political parties. The Internet is a double-edged sword. On the one hand, it gives access to a wealth of useful, helpful and potentially society-changing information and enablement to pretty much everyone in the world at their fingertips. On the other hand, there's no arbiter of how that information is disseminated and, unfortunately, a quite stunning percentage of it is utter bollocks.

    I agree.

But when Jon Ronson broke into B Grove and filmed the Owl floating down the river in the cremation of care whilst CIA and presidents pissed up trees made me think what the fuck is going on?

In the meantime - Edward Snowden has blown the whistle on how the US government routinely spies on its own citizens:
