Agree with tom to certain extent - he looked awkward but hopefully just nerves, he was nowhere near JC's level especially composure.CAFCBourne said:

I've seen a bit of Pigott this season: the first-half hat-trick at Welling, away at AFC Wombles and the Daggers (?), home to Oxford and Leicester. You are right: he doesn't look very 'natural', doesn't have the athletic grace of a young Paul Walsh, for example. His bulky physique could be an asset, or a hindrance. Regular games on loan with a League One club ought to do him some good - with a recall clause in case Kermorgant, Church or Sordell gets injured.cafctom said:I'm still not 100% sold on him to be honest. Still probably a lot to learn, but at least he will be learning and developing here at Charlton. It would take a serious injury crisis before he's anywhere near being a first choice striker, but as an option off the bench he's already shown a lot of promise and potential. Well done to Joe, and well done the academy too.0

Yann is surely one of our top earners after signing a new deal last summer (2012 I mean). The club spent around £8m in salaries for all staff in 2011/12 - the top earning players will be on quite a bit more than £2k a week.Swisdom said:

Pigott looks raw, but he's learning quickly and has made a positive contribution in every game he's appeared in so far. I think we have a talent on our hands, if his line-leading performance against Oxford is anything to go by. Great news that we've secured his services (fingers crossed there are plans for our more senior players too).
The future's bright with these kids coming through. Jordan Cousins looks so calm and classy in the middle, Harriott is quick, skilful and explosive. Great to watch whilst we have them, let's hope they get to grow with us over the longer term.0 -
Its a completely different game being a striker expected to hold up the ball and a energetic midfielder. You'll find even the best players in Europe that are in the same role and build as piggott will often look awkward. thats just the way they are.cs1986 said:

Piggott imo is the real deal and this 3 yr contract will show that, this time next season Joe Piggott will be our first on team sheet striker0

Good news. The little I have seen of him (v Leicester), I thought his touch looked excellent for a target man and his strength for a young lad was superb.
Plenty of promise and a contract well earned.
All te bad news that swirls around us, our biggest hope has to be tieing down our kids, getting through this system safely mid table then the board selling up due to the potential within the squad to do something without huge inward investment.

A three year deal shows me that the club have a very high opinion and hope for Joe. I tend to agree with nla that I think joe is going to be very good.0
