weren't Surrey all out for 12 once? Probably about 20 years ago now?

I seem to remember that, although they are saying its the lowest score for 30 years.

My old man played in a London Schools side that were bowled out for 11, then proceeded to bowl the opposition out for 10. Would have been early 60s I guess.

Just looked it up. Surrey were bowled out for 14 - in 1983!!!

    Jeez, where did that go?

I still don't know whether that happened or if it's a bad dream...

  • I have a season ticket at both Charlton and Essex. Today is the lowest point of supporting Essex for 35 years...cannot remember such a shambles.
If this was football every fan would be calling for the managers head, but cricket is different. Paul Grayson walked by and hardly anyone said a word.

A shame it wasn't 19, then we could reuse the n-n-n-n nineteen song... (as Rory Bremner did!)

six LBWS-any suggestion the umpires were a bit trigger happy or Essex kept missing straight ones?
  • It was a fix, the umps are in on it!

Good to see Phil has made a decent life for himself after football.

That's nothing. Take a look at this scorecard from a Kent League game a couple of weeks ago and try to rationalise how three batsmen are run out when the team has 80 overs to get the required score:

And I forgot to point out that it seems they were 11-0 chasing.

Sometimes this just happens in cricket - it's like a collective panic sets in and otherwise good batsmen simply find ways to get out.
