Anyone remember the rumour of Villa interested in Stephens, was suprised nothing resurfaced this window, as he certaintly would of freed up some money to spend on players, especially with the fee at one point rumoured to be around 1.5million, can see him being a bench warmer next season.

If I remember, there was some speculation at the time that Villa's offer consisted of around £350,000 up front and the rest made up of add-ons of appearances, England caps and winning the European Champions League or whatever.
