    not so surprising .. the boy was born in Doncaster and is probably a fan of the club .. Rovers is an ambitious club and within reason there is no such thing as bad publicity

    He won't play in a Championship game. The FA put a stop to Macclesfield's plan to offer a fan the chance to pay £20k to play in the last 10 minutes of a Conference or Cup game stating: "it creates a possibility of altering the outcome of a competitive fixture and as such, clearly crosses an important line with respect to the integrity of the game."

    Surely this is the same thing?

    Yes. Perhaps the FA won't allow it. But it appears to be what Doncaster are planning. I had a quick look at their official site. He's squad no. 28.
