Yep, I think we need to find a balance. I thought Pompey looked decent against us and Oxford smashed them. This will be a difficult game and we need to field a strong side.

Would like to see Poyet get some game time, could be the creative player we are crying out for

Despite us already being in a relegation scrap?

Solly has to start RB with Green/Wilson in front of him. It's a good chance for them to get some sort of match-experience together for the following three games of Pritch's suspension.

Might it be worth playing Green wide right with Wilson/Gower in the middle?

    I'd go for

Pope (gives him some experience in case called upon in future)

    Solly-Morrison-Dervite-Evina
    Green-Stephens-Gower-Harriott
    Sordell-Church

    subs: Hamer,Cort,Wilson,Hollands,Cousins,Cook,Piggott
  • Options
    Hamer
    Wilson Dervitte Wood Evina
    Green Stephens Hughes Harriott
    Kerm(c) Sordell

As above, Oxford smashed a (10 man) Pompy, so want enough stability in defence and goal...

Green HAS to start I feel, needs a decent run out before 'Boro. Stephens and Hughes as JJ should be back for the Boro game, is only a knock keeping him out. Thus him and Gower will be back in. Harriott on lack of anyone else. (Unless you play Wiggo LB and Evina LM)

I also feel we must start Kermorgant and Sordell up top. Kerm was frustrated about how he played with someone who he had only done 3 or so hours of training with, thus giving them 70-90 more mins together, (against anyone!) is crucial.

Bench - Phillips, Fox, Feely, Gower Hollands, Piggot, Church

Definitely, the midfield on Saturday looked like they'd never met each other before, Sordell probably actually hasn't. We need to get some consistency and I really don't see how we'll benefit from playing a weakened team for the sake of it.

I'd rest Harriott as we don't want to burn him out. Green on left, Wilson right. Church to start. The rest I'll leave to CP to decide.

CP has a history of making 10 or 11 changes for League Cup games, so that's what I'm going with.

I'd actually play Harriott. I thought he looked a little off the pace and might benefit from some extra game time pre 'Boro which will be tough for him

Didn't Powell say earlier in the pre-season that he wanted a cup run ?

This, but think I would like to see Cousins in for Hollands.

I'd paly a team that would be able to start on Saturday, no one needs a rest yet and we seem to have the need to be able to gel with each other.

Yeah we should have offered him another year just for this game.

A lot of people seem to have forgotten Jordan Cook, think he is all most certain to start?

Yes he did. But then yesterday he said the following:-

“The schedule is quite relentless,” he said. “We’ve got the cup game on Tuesday and I may rest a few people and then we have got Middlesbrough at home which is a big game and a big start for us."

I am a huge CP fan, but he will significantly go down in my estimation if he backtracks on what he's previously said. Not that it will bother him, I suppose...
