Best Child Acting Performance

Gotta start with Haley Joel Osment, the lad in The Sixth Sence

Also the four in Stand By Me stand out, a bit older, but brilliant performances

Thomas Turgoose in This Is England is another....

Anymore?

Stand By Me is an all time classic which never gets old.

Not 'acting' as such, but worth a mention considering the size of the occasion:

The lad in Made in England, got to say Kes is a great call. Stand by Me is almost unbeatable. Hayley Mills in Whistle Down. Also the first Home Alone worth a shout. Jenny Agutter and all the young cast of walkabout. Jodie Foster. Some good 'uns actually. Like the bossy kid in School of Rock too.

Christian Bale was pretty good but don't think you any look further than Jodie Foster.

*edit* late entry for young jackmasterflash or whatever his name is. Gives a very mature performance for such a young lad.

This, surprised I had to scroll so far down for this
  • Tatum O'Neal in paper moon
  • Jodie Foster - Taxi Driver
  • Di Caprio in What's Eating Gilbert Grape I think is worth a mention.

Nods of approval to most of the above but can't have this thread without a mention to the collective cast of the Goonies. Absolute classic film, worthy of an Oscar for the truffle shuffle alone.
Drew Barrymore and the kid who played Elliott in ET.
Thought Abigail Breslin who played Olive in Little Miss Sunshine was exceptional.
Also mentions to Alisan Porter from Curly Sue and Ross Elliot Bagley who played Buckwheat in the Little Rascals for being far too adorable.
