We shouldn't really complain too much after having the Donny claimed by the weather but should clubs have rain covers for their pitch?
The water on the pitch was an accumilation of rain before the game and over night as well as the rain that came down during the game.
If the pitch was covered overnight and upto an hour before kick-off we would have had a dryer pitch to start with and the ball would then run differently.
A game at Blackburn just before Christmas last season at Blackburn was called off because of heavy rain waterlogging the pitch.
Would it be too expensive for clubs to have some covering like they have at Wimbledon tennis? After they have been purchased there would no maintainence like there would be with undersoil heating plus purchasing of pitch rain covering would cost a lot less as well?
