What is the smallest creature you could catch if it was fired out of a cannon?

So, I've just set up a cannon in the garden. My wife loaded a beetle into the cannon and here's a picture of the evidence....

I think a rodent or a small bird. Hamster is a good call, perhaps a mole is a little smaller? Or a sparrow.

You're never going to catch a bird - they are prone to flying off.

I was thinking fully grown female Syrian hamster but could also be a 2 year old Herman's tortoise - that would go some distance though (very aerodynamic).
