This must mean we are going to be bringing someone in, surely.

    Someone Jackson

If it really is 200k then bloody hell, bloomin good business if you ask me, shame we couldn't have given him a chance.

If it is £200 then CP should be proud if himself but if it is less than £ 75 then RD has been irresponsible.

Bloody hell that's cheap either way.

Mind you that's like 100 Starbucks coffees.

If we are at a different level now, with any luck we will be looking to move Church along too. I don't want to hear about his assists. It's goals I'm interested in.

Assists are as good as goals. What are you talking about? Must be one of the most ridiculous things I've heard on here in a long time.
  • If it's true that we have sold him, it's probably the start of a big clearout, accompanied I hope by adding quality to the squad, particularly up front.
  • Good luck to him. I just dont think he is at the level we are at this moment in time.
  • If we get £x and that £x goes towards keeping kermy then it's good business.

And "misses" are as important as both.

He has five or so goals so far this season. Hardly profilic, I know, but we're struggling at the wrong end of the table. He's worth his place in the squad for now.
Agree, whilst the thought of him as our 1st choice out-and-out striker is mildly depressing, qualities such as his work-rate means that he is a decent squad player.

Unfortunately, not everyone is destined to be 'Gary Goals'.
  • How long is Spongefoot's contract? Can't see him being moved out as CP pick's him every game despite his ineffectiveness.

A couple of assists against Oxford and one against Ipswich don't make up for all his misses. He's cost us more points than gained in my opinion.

  • Gower and Hollands are the next two players to be leaving.
  • 200k + is a fantastic bit of business . Let's hope SCP gets it all to spend.
  • 200k is a rumour. Reserves said he thought it was 75k and he seems to be ITK on this as he broke the story first.
  • It won't be 200k. An unproven striker (at our level) striker out of contract in 6 months, we'd be lucky to get half that.
  • 100k initial fee rising to 200k with add on's

Bury bid £75k which was rejected by the club (Player wasn't keen either). Swindon upped the offer, so it's more than £75k, but don't know final fee.

    2.5 year contract.
  • Still no official confirmation of this anywhere? Not on OS, not on BBC or Sky or Swindon website...maybe its not actually a done deal yet...
  • Creepy Cawley is saying 100000 initial fee rising to 200000 with add ons. I think that is a decent fee for Michael. Sad to seem him go though as he was never given a chance.

Johnnie Jackson has just congratulated him on the move on Twitter.

    That'll do for me.

Good luck with the move, Michael

And good luck with the Magic Roundabout !

  • Good luck Michael. Deserved a bigger chance in the team ahead of Joe Piggott, we'll never know how things would have panned out now.

Oh yeah - just seen that and Jordan Cook too. Guess it must have happened. Shame not given more of a chance
    - just hope it means a better replacement on the way!

It's done deal, 2.5 year contract.

  • I could be wrong but I'm looking at this as a positive sign. Yes it could be the start of a fire sale but my gut feeling is that CP thinks that he now has the resources to improve the squad - getting in better quality proven players at this level. So to me anyway it suggests both that CP is in control of transfers and that we have better access to funds than we did before the takeover. It is just a gut feeling - but I hope I'm going to be proved right! Good luck to Michael Smith. Hope he does well for them.

Shame he never got a proper chance, not convinced Pigott is the better player, even if he is the more natural goalscorer.

But if we bring in a proven striker or two I won't be complaining.

Loads of examples of targetmen pushing on later on in their careers, Yann, Iwelumo, Lambert, Holt to name a few. Wouldn't be surprised if he made in the Championship later on his career. We can't loan someone out forever or keep them as 5th choice rarely getting a game.

I doubt he was on much at all, so we should have at least made a small profit. Hopefully there's a sell on clause incase he really does do well in the next few years.
  • Good luck to him. I just dont think he is at the level we are at this moment in time.

Agree he is well above that :-)

Could be a decent fee or a giveaway - we will have to see. But realistically, if he is considered not ready for our first team with the striking issues we have been having and him to be soon out of contract - not much choice but to sell him.
  • ^^^^ realistic .. if harsh on Smith and kind to Powell ..
  • @smudga17: Loved my time at @CAFCofficial cant thank the club and fans enough for their support over the years! Wish the club

@smudga17: All the best for the future! Looking forward to the next few years with Swindon, cant wait to get started #cafc #stfc
  • Cawley saying we paid £75k and sold for £100k and add ons rising to £200k plus a sell on fee.

    Good luck to him.

Dick Plumb is saying Hollands and Gower out. Have heard similar.
