It's easy to complain about MPs expenses and many of them have given us a reason to, but when taking into account expense levels many elements need to be considered. Cost of potentially living in two locations, costs of staffing, my local MP has two staff in Bristol and 2 in Westminster. She sublets large office space in Bristol, has a house (with mortgage) in Bristol and a rents a flat in London. She is in Bristol Friday afternoon and leaves for London again mid morning on Monday. It's a strange existence, and it's not an easy job. One element they should sort out is their food expenses, meals and alcohol in the HoC are still heavily subsidised. As a public sector worker I'd love to have a supply if subsided food and booze.
On the Liam Fox expenses claim thing he could have got his old mate Adam Werrity to carry him that distance, the taxpayer has been carrying Werrity for long enough.
