Solidgone, were you there when one of the kids, run down the stairs on the old Routemaster buses coming up Bloomfield rd, did a star jump off the back only to find a lamppost on his flightpath? how he didnt kill himself. lol
This is less than 15 mins drive from my front door, it can be pretty cold & desolate in the winter - but in the summer i can't think of a much better place to spend a few hours trying to catch a fish or 3 for the BBQ.............

sorry mate, my fault! my favourite place is Sydney, why cant London be even half that clean?
Milford Sound was nice, but the effect was somewhat spoiled by the fact it absolutely chucked it down, and the wind was blowing so strongly that some of the waterfalls were flowing upwards. Personally I prefered Lake Tekapo - the bit by the Church of the Good Shepherd is fairly busy with tourists stopping off, but if you walk around the edge of the lake for 5 minutes or so, you'd never even know they were there. The water is the most amazing shade of blue you've ever seen, the mountain views are great, and on a clear night the stars were just incredible.
Yeah Sydney's great for a holiday, loads to see and do plus heaps of great seafood and wine to consumer and not that expensive if you stay away from the tourist traps. Would not want to live there though, incredibly expensive on Aussie wages.

I don't think any of us can remember anything that weekend......
Had a bit of a gamble but I was the only one who did not get money out of the ATM. We all agreed to take £800 ($1400) and I did that. Some of the other guys thought it was brilliant to sit at the Blackjack table and bet $25 a time, but get a free drink........they just did not get it!!
When i went to Te Anau we had an Earthquake, nearly shat myself. My second favourite spot was about three weeks ago Lake Louise covered in Snow, awesome. I remember that sea plane at Te Anau. Also swimming with the dolphins off of Kaikora.
Have to agree with aliwibble about Lake Tekapo. Milford Sound is over-rated in my opinion. Not that it isn't beautiful but there are too many tourists. I did kayaking for 3 days on Doubtful Sound. Nobody there - just me and a mate of mine. Beautiful. The sandflies were awful though. For this, and other reasons, my favourite place is (and I believe always will be) the Na Pali coast of Kauai, Hawaii.
