Ronnie was unbelievable the last session, unplayable. I am with @MrOneLung not sure why but dislike Murphy although he is good to watch especially with his long potting.

Hopefully Ronnie can add the Worlds, shame UK went a bit short format would have been better a longer format as it just falls in with the rest of them now. Ronnie up to 2 in the world, opposite side to Selby shaping up nicely for 2018 World Championship. Get in Ronnie!

Ronnie still £700,000 behind Selby safe to say Selby should end season as world number 1 again.

    So summary of day one,
    easy victorys for:
    Trump
    Maguire
    Higgins
    Fu(Defending Champion)

    Early Dissapointment for:
    Dott
    Hawkins
    Gould

Other surprise departures mainly a surprise due to facing someone much lower in rankings:
    Baird
    Gilbert
    Pengfei
    Uh-Nooh

And performance of the day and big shoutout to:
Kurt Dunham world ranked 121 beat World number 59 Tian Pengfei, that was the Australians first win since November 2016, since his last win he has played 19 matches and won 19 Frames, big performance from him yesterday to win 4-2.

Also Saengkham got a 144 against Gould and leads the high break prize after day 1 it will take some beating

How long do people reckon before China dominates the top ten? They came from nowhere to be one of the very best chess playing nations and I can see them doing the same here.

5 years i would guess, just starting to filter down at the mo with most semis/quarters 1 or 2 in there, on snooker.org (best place for results/live scores) someone stated potentially the whole of a quarter could be full of chinese this tourney.

The thing is 5/6 years ago people said in a few years asian players will dominate, it hasnt happened yet, not saying it wont and there are alot more in top 64 now, however I dont see them completly dominating, there are also alot of young talent from uk and mainland Europe coming through as well.

Best place for results is Charltonlife lol.

yeah I thought by now Asian players would be dominating as I read over 70 million Chinese people play pool or snooker each week so its got to be only a matter of time.

having said that they have had a huge interest in football for a number of years now and have very few top players so maybe it will take alot longer than anticipated.

Yes completely dominating agreed, but reckon there will be maybe like 4-6 players in top 16 so they will become more dominant. I searched the World rankings for 9ball whilst the mosconi cup was on and was suprised that the majority of the top players were chinese/ thailand, I think top ranked US was like 80, there were a few Europeans in there but defo dominated by Asian countries.

High break prize pretty much gone to Cao Yupeng now thanks to his 147.

Ronnie'll conjure up a 155 but only if the money's good enough.

Does anyone know the most number of continuous points? Not unanswered points, but continuous without the opponent coming to the table. I'll put the answer up tomorrow.
