I always think that half the fun of fancy dress is making your own costume, or trolling charity shops for stuff you can adapt and buying one or two bits to augment the look from a fancy dress shop. If you have the time, of course...
Farah's slit over your diadora golds will a lyle and scott roll neck under your Fila BJ, worked for me Boxing day 84 away at palace when we lost our keeper after about ten minutes.
Did anyone else butcher two items of clothing together to double up on labels? I distinctly remember people sewing the bottom of Tacchini track strides onto the bottom of Lois jeans to get both labels at once. This was in Eltham - probably early to mid 80's.
I still get grief for wearing a green gazelle on one foot and a blue on the other at Hull away to show I had two pairs. I topped it off with a green Benetton jumper and quite rightly took a beating on the walk back to the station, it was 86? A 1-1 draw from memory, open terrace with a train line to our left? Have disliked them since, city of culture my ar@@!
Err - guys, I think the idea is that you dress up as someone or something iconic from the 80s - not some herbert from down the pub with bad taste... Haircut 100 anybody? ;-)
