Put mine on November 1st and peel them off April 1st (whether I need to or not)

You never take them off during that time?

Try not to. Only lowered for essential 3p activities (peeing, pooing & procreation). Wife is certainly a lucky woman!
  • Worn them on the old open terrace at Barnsley in winter. Still bloody froze my nads off.

I shall be ironing mine just before I put them on for tonight.

Essential in winter. Not sure if necessary yet. Won't feel the benefit in the depths of winter.

good idea .. just don't wear them over your head, you'll miss all the on-field action

long-johns have to be the same colour as your over-trousers, otherwise the referee can send you off to change the former !!

  • My autumn/winter attire for football:

    Big boots
    2 pairs of socks
    pants
    long johns
    jeans
    t-shirt
    jumper
    big coat
    scarf
    wooly hat
    hood
    gloves

    I don't take any risks.
  • long thermal undies required about twice per season - remembered at best once
"...no such thing as bad weather, just inadequate clothing..." Billy Connolly (I think)

oh yeah and inadequate drainage/pitch maintenance budget, ahem

Very effective. An old trick in the Army was to wear your pajamas under your battledress when on night watch. When the temperature was lowest, typically in the hours before dawn, they kept the heat in and the cold out.
For what it's worth, a pair of tights under your trousers is as effective as long johns. They keep your feet warm, too.

    .
  • I work outside overnight. Have to say its not that cold yet. But I have worn them when I've been out working in a -17 windchill. Never had the need to wear them to football though.
