  • I've never seen its a wonderful life. I'll take your word for it.

You really should. Nice story and starring James Stewart.
Films don't get much better than that.
    Who's James Stewart?

I thought he was the bloke in charge of the Enterprise and trained all the X-Men...

...then I realised I was thinking of Patrick Stewart!!

To be fair, I haven't seen any of those films listed that he'd starred in.
  • Grinch watch it a few times every year
    I am the Grinch
  • I love Bad Santa but for me the best Christmas Film is "it's a wonderful life" because it's a lot darker than people think especially the sequence where his wish to have never lived is granted, brilliant film.

As for Elf sorry folks I find Will Ferrell about as funny as dysentery.

    This.
  • First Christmas song today, shakin Stevens in asda
  • I watched It's a Wonderful Life for the first time last weekend. What a great film, even the kids enjoyed it (considering its nearly 70 years old).

Surprised none of the females have gone for 'Love Actually'

    A rather sexist comment?
  • Would really recommend Klaus on Netflix, really good family Christmas film.
  • The Apartment.

    .
  • Gremlins every Christmas eve.
  • Muppets Christmas Carol (drops mic)
  • The Apartment.
One of my favourite films but for some reason never think of it as a Christmas film, even though it obviously is set around Christmas
  • Top 5:

    1. It's a Wonderful Life
    2. It's a Wonderful Life
    3. It's a Wonderful Life
    4. It's a Wonderful Life
    5. A Christmas Carol (David Lean)

  • National Lampoons Christmas Vacation. Chevy Chase cracking under the pressure of delivering the perfect christmas for his extended family. A classic.

Jingle All The Way. Hit and miss but worth a watch for Phil Hartman's turn as the snivelling neighbour who is trying to smash Arnie's wife.

I love The Apartment and was watching it again at the weekend but, like you, have never thought of it as a Christmas movie. Maybe because it's actually based on quite a sad subject matter rather than a knockabout feel good film.

It's a Wonderful Life is of course also quite a melancholic film but it ain't Christmas until I've watched it!
  • I only found out Elf existed because of this thread. Great film. I have a huge spot for the Jim Carey/Disney Christmas Carol. Love Actually is also right up there with the best. And out on a limb, Arthur Christmas is good. But my current favourite is Klaus  which arrived on Netflix last year and has a great take on the Santa story, and ends perfectly.
  • Would recommend The Christmas Chronicles on netflix. Thoroughly enjoyed that as did my kids. The second one is out today too
Thank you the wife really enjoyed it, she now want to see the second one as well.
