Madness in my view,he was hampered by the sale of Bale and despite having £100 million to spend,it hasn't quite gelled quickly enough for him .He should have been given at least until the end of the season in my view,in the long term he could be a good manager.

What is it about Spurs? Every season I fancy them to do well and am impressed with some of their signings but somehow it never quite happens for them.

AVB is an excellent coach no doubt, very much in the mould of Mourinho, however he doesn't seem to have the bite about him that mourinho has. I think thats why he hasn't cut it as a Premier League manager. No b*ll*cks about him.
  • Almost at xmas and he still didn't have a clue what his best XI was
  • Looking at his comments last night on MOD it makes you wonder who picks the team and who buys the players, Baldini seems to have a big say. When AVB was asked he did say he could not "go public"

Lamela, Chadli, Soldado and Paulinho, not as good as Ozil, Fernandinho, Lukaku and Schurrle, who all changed clubs this summer (I know Lukaku is on loan but every player has a price)

100m from Bale all wasted, and it looks like Defoe is gone too

Spurs. Same old story. Few good years with 'Arry, now reverting back to type. If they bring Hoddle back I'm gonna laugh til I pass out.
  • We may find out who brought the players in . Probably not AVB.

AVB has been sacked by Spurs. Would love to see Glenn Hoddle given another chance at this level. Has a brilliant football mind.

@GaryLineker Hoddle . Leave off Gary

@Lord_Sugar: @GaryLineker Hoddle . Leave off Gary” < When non football people decide, they go for the likes of Cristian Gross.

    1-0 to Lineker.....................;-)

In fairness to Gary Lineker, Glenn Hoddle has a fantastic understanding of the game and from a tactical standpoint could probably go toe to toe with the best out there. Its the actual 'managing' which was always his doubtful unfortunately.
  • Why do people try and have a pop at Lineker on Twitter? He's destroyed anyone who's tried it to my knowledge. Witness his ritual humiliation of Piers Morgan every time he tries to chime in.
The man has a pretty sharp wit for an ex-footballer.

Tom's right, Hoddle is a tactical mastermind, it's just is personality that gets in the way!

I'd also argue that Paulinho has been a success, and I also think Lamela and Eriksen at the very least will prove themselves to be good signings too.

Paulinho is a good player, and Soldado isn't poor, he's just getting absolutely nothing to feed on.

it is quite clear AVB never bought half those players ....another nice payday for him and then back home to warmer weather .....ask me .........he is a very shrewd business man our Mr AVB and rich ...

why Levy gave him the job after his Chelsea failure is surely a matter for serious questioning amongst Spurs fans .. he has wasted all the Bale 'inheritance' on a bunch of 2nd rate (by the highest prem standards) foreigners .. Tottenham are sinking slowly .. be interesting to see who gets the job of baling (pun intended) them out

    Hoddle's a dinosaur.

If tactical awareness was only awarded les reed would be in the real Madrid hot seat.

but AVB never spent the money it was spent by the DOF or Sporting director whatever Baldini's title is

AVB was given the players to work with

I didn't get the appointment on his behalf or the clubs but I think any criticism of him should be that he never knew his best 11 and subsequently spurs recruited too many players at once that was never ever going to embed in a squad in this season, the amount of players recruited was enough for 2 or 3 seasons

this is down to Levy and Baldini

I doubt Arsene Wenger will move to spurs
  • Think Laudrup would do a good appointment, Hoddle or Capello not so much.

Hoddle failed at Spurs once, why would he be any better after years out of management?
  • If they want a manager who knows how to gel a team of new signings together they could do a lot worse than SCP.

They will, my friend, they will.
