Sorry I'll try and be clearer- WHAT HAS IT GOT TO DO WITH CHRISTMAS?
Mentioning the word Christams once or twice hardly ties it in with the greatest story ever told.
To be fair, very few "Christmas" songs have anything to do with 'CHRISTmas' stockings on walls, presents under tress, kissing under missletoe etc etc, none have 'relevant lyrics' to the true meaning of Christmas don't stop us singing and dancing along though.
Phil Spector's Christmas Album, recorded in 1963 with The Crystals, The Ronettes, Darlene Love etc. Magical then and still gives me goose bumps 50 years later.
This. Plus the 'Wall of Sound' album for the Boxing Day party. Can't go wrong!
it's looking at Christmas from Mother Christmas' perspective.
she doesn't want her husband to leave on his journey around the world delivering presents so asks him to stay another day, that's what Brian Harvey said anyway.
the clues are in the lyrics
Santa if you've got to go away I don't think I can take the pain Won't you stay another day Oh don't leave me alone like this Don't say it's the final kiss Won't you stay another day
Don't you know We've come too far now Just to go And try to throw it all away Thought I heard you say You love me That your love was gonna be here to stay I've only just begun To know you All I can say is Won't you stay just one more day
Santa if you've got to go away I don't think I can take the pain Won't you stay another day Oh don't leave me alone like this Don't say it's the final kiss Won't you stay another day
I touch your face while you are sleeping And hold your hand Don't understand what's going on Good times we had return To haunt me Though it's for you All that I do seem to be wrong
Santa if you've got to go away I don't think I can take the pain Won't you stay another day Oh don't leave me alone like this Won't you stay another day
Paul McCartney - Wonderful Christmas Time Elton John - Step Into Christmas John Lennon & Yoko Ono - Happy Xmas (War Is Over) Boney M - Mary's Boy Child / Oh My Lord The Darkness - Christmas Time (Don't Let The Bells End)
Can you explain to me what that song has to do with Christmas? lol
They wear white coats, it snows in the video, they use church bells in the song, it was Xmas number one.
I'm certainly clutching at straws here!
No I agree, it is a very christmassy record! (I was just mimicking Riveria's questioning!) Another Christmas record that I love is Pretenders - 500 miles.

Christmas Eve. You've fnished work. You get in the car and face an hour in the cold, dark and wet evening rush hour to get home for a few days off with the family.
Christmas songs .... Room 101 for me, I'm afraid. Haven't had the radio on in the car this last week for the fear of hearing Noddy Holder blasting out 'it's Christmas' for the umpteenth time. Give me a Christmas carol any day of the week ... bah humbug

the clues are in the lyrics
Santa if you've got to go away
I don't think
I can take the pain
Won't you stay another day
Oh don't leave me alone like this
Don't say it's the final kiss
Won't you stay another day
Don't you know
We've come too far now
Just to go
And try to throw it all away
Thought I heard you say
You love me
That your love was gonna be here to stay
I've only just begun
To know you
All I can say is
Won't you stay just one more day
Santa if you've got to go away
I don't think
I can take the pain
Won't you stay another day
Oh don't leave me alone like this
Don't say it's the final kiss
Won't you stay another day
I touch your face while you are sleeping
And hold your hand
Don't understand what's going on
Good times we had return
To haunt me
Though it's for you
All that I do seem to be wrong
Santa if you've got to go away
I don't think
I can take the pain
Won't you stay another day
Oh don't leave me alone like this
Won't you stay another day
