A couple of tidy saves Wilson - 7 - Thought he handled the winger well and looked comfortable Morrison - 8 - Solid and good on the ball Wood - 5.5 - Him and Evina going for the same ball lead to their goal Evina - 4 Stewart - 6 Cousins - 6.5 Jackson - 4 - Non existant Stephens - 7 - Good goal and looked positive with a few mistakes Kermorgant - 7 - Some good touches and knock ons Church - 5
Alnwick - 6 Kicking was awful, didn't seem as confident as he has done recently, good block with legs towards the end from a close range header. Wilson - 6.5 Did well as he was isolated for a large part of the game. Morrison - 7 Solid. Wood - 7.5 MOM Solid and good distribution. Evina - 5.5 Looked off the pace, poor at closing down players as well. Stewart - 6 Didn't have a lot to do. Pitch wasn't ideal for him. Cousins - 6.5 Didn't stop chasing on some occasions. Unlucky with his blast that was heading toward the top corner. Jackson - 5 Looks too slow, didn't fit in the team well. Very quiet. Stephens - 7 Very well taken goal and some great tackling. Kermorgant - 7 Won most of his headers, flicks weren't read by Church. Church - 5.5 Usual running with no end product. Missed a great chance towards the end.

Dervite 5 - Brought on to mark the big fellow they brought on. Effective enough.

Morrison - 6 Solid enough under an aerial bombardment.
Wood - 6.5 Won nearly all his headers, but was dragged wide on too many occassions by lapses by Evina. Pairtly at fault for the goal.
Stephens - 6 Loath to give him such an average score, but was ineffective on the right, and even more so when moved to the left. (None of which was his fault!) Extra .5 for a well taken goal.
Cousins - 7 MOTM A beacon of light in a turgid game. Wrestled the midfield from Wednesday in the 1st half single handedly. Outpowered former fan favourite Semedo. Tired later on a heavy, strength sapping pitch, which was unsurprisingly considering his 1st half work workrate with little support.
Jackson - 4 Watching my favourite Charlton player arriving 5 seconds late for every ball was painful. Could not cope with heavy pitch. An experiment that turned into a major failure. Those who say Church runs around like a headless chicken should watch Jacko's performance in this game.
Stewart - 5 For the 1st time, his first touch often let him down. Very right footed, usually he is helped by Wiggins ability to get up and down the pitch. Struggled with Evina behind him.
Kermogant - 6 Like Cousins, worked manfully in the 1st half to try to get control of the game. Like Cousins, tired badly late on, on a strength sapping pitch. Unfortunately, when this happens with Yann, he tries to hide a bit, by dropping deeper. Still won his fair share of headers.
Church - 6 Yes, a woeful finish, when he had a chance to win the game, but had looked the most threatening of our players later on in the game with his run down the channels. Often left isolated when for some inexplicable reason we went 8-0-2 late in the game. Workrate on that pitch was prodigious.
CP - 1 I am in no way a member of the "Powell Out" brigade, but he got this one hopelessly wrong. It was completely unnecessary, and probably ended our chances of winning the game, to break up a successful central midfield partnership. Our most creative midfielder moved out to the right to make him more ineffective is bad enough, but to then move him to the left compounded the error. If the fans can see the midfield have dropped to deep, and are shouting for them to get forward, why aren't Powell/Dyer/Matthew doing the same thing? One final point: substitutions. When playing on a energy sapping, pudding of a pitch PLEASE use all your available subs? It's like playing with one lace untied. Yes, you may have concerns about the strength of the bench, but surely fresh legs is better than no legs at all?
