Am in Rio at the moment so not too in tune with what is being said. However it's great, we have been wanting the old regime out, now that they are people are coating our potential saviours.......................give them a chance
Nice one Elf , whats the temp at the moment in Rio? and how far in advance did you book your train? :-0
Are some of you forgetting that we are one step, albeit a very large step away from returning to the greatest league in the World. What we have agreed is that Roland is no mug, His early actions should make his long term plans reasonably obvious, but if it does not include pushing us hard towards the Premiership it will amaze me. We all know the jokes about famous Belgians, but this guy has his hands on a really exciting opportunity, and whats more he is well funded to give it a good crack. You lot can worry if you like, but me, I'm excited and raring to go. Get your backsides down the Valley, and let me hear the noise !
This It’s not as though we were a club riding high in the league with enthusiastic owners pumping money into making improvements is it. Things will be different, we may end up in a new stadium, and we may not, but if the club grows and becomes a football force then let’s get on the Belgium bus that has stopped at the Valley and enjoy the ride.
After posting the 2nd comment on this thread and after listening to Chris Powell in his interview on CAFCPlayer...
I know I was worried about this Goalkeeper coming into the team but I think with each Standard Liege player linked with the squad we need to take it with a pinch of salt, as rumours are always gonna link us with those players after what has happened at Watford although as stated above... with FFP rules coming into play I believe that the setups at Charlton and at Watford will allow both clubs to deal with the rulings easier which can only be a good thing.
In terms of the Left-Midfielder we've signed (Sorry gonna take a while for me to spell his name) I do also believe Powell has selected him from the Liege squad (rather than being lumped with him), as he said in the interview, he's met with RD, he's spoken on the phone and they've emailed so they've had more than enough opportunities to discuss which players Powell is allowed to borrow for the season

Most worrying thing about this old thread is the mention of Champions League domination 🙂. The lesson for me is to just hope that we ‘get our Charlton back’ nothing more, nothing less - I’ll be happy with that COYA!!!
Very similar situation to when Roland took over - manager and star striker requiring new contracts, although Kerm wanted to stay and I'm not sure that Taylor does.
Last time around, it was fairly obvious to many by the end of that first January that Roland was a clueless lunatic. Will tell a lot more relaxed about this lot when Bowyer's signed a new contract.

He wasn't the only one who felt this way when RD took over.
