Sherlock

Enjoyed last nights 2/3 episode.

Only thing I will say is all of a sudden Sherlock turns into Spock from Star Trek when he gives the best man speech. He's a self aware sociopath as he frequently says but the whole unfiltered honest rudeness during the speech was suddenly a bit far-fetched. In fact too much of it was a tad far-fetched.

I would say its a much better more complex version Jonathan creek bringing an old classic character into modern London.

I look forward to next weeks final....where he also reveals how he pulled off the death illusion.

What do you make of it?

Enjoyed the previous series but thought it was a load of rubbish last night and will have Sir Arthur Conan Doyle turning in his grave.

I watched episode one from last week , yesterday and for the first time i was left bored by it. Far too clever for it's own good. Hopefully it gets better.

Loved every episode that has been made since the re-imagined version first hit our screens. The new series is superbly written and Cumberbatch is a wonderful Holmes. Martin Freeman however is not getting the credit he deserves for his portrayal of Watson which is, in my opinion, probably even better than Cumberbatch's Holmes!

I agree with Rizzo, I only saw last weeks but thought Martin Freeman stole the show.

Martin Freeman is very good at playing Tim Canterbury, in everything.

Very well written piece of British television. Love it. Loved the recent episode, even though this series has divided opinion. Think it's really creatively shot as well, loved the soft focus when they were drunk!

Of course it's far fetched and thank goodness for that. If you want reality than watch Celebrity Big Brother......

I've enjoyed both episodes but don't have a clue what is going on half the time.

Watson was playing as a false No.9 Large......

Most of the time I'm wondering what the hell is going on but by the end it works itself out.

Enjoyed it, but sometimes i like to try and work out the villain, but if you don't know whats going on until the end, thats impossible.

Don't think this series is as good as the last. I do like Elementary series on Sky Living.

it's gone a bit silly and unfortunately turning into light entertainment a la Dr Who, still enjoyable though and Cumberbatch is excellent.

Trouble is, I keep seeing Watson as a hairy footed hobbit .

haha, yes, we saw The Hobbit on Friday - so after Sherlock thursday and last night. I had a weird dream last night that Cumberbatch was the wizard in The Hobbit (not the dragon's voice) and that Bilbo Baggins had a bad moustache.

I preferred last night's episode to last weeks, however I didn't enjoy the drunk scene. Never enjoy watching people act drunk. don't think anyone can do it well. never believable. loved the scene with the 4 women trying to find a clue between them. no idea where it was heading.

her wedding dress was also stunning and love the fact they're real life partners.

It's the antihistamines Fanny. Cut down a little bit.

I think this was a relatively lighthearted episode building up to something much darker next week.

Ha, ha, all I can see is him playing the porn star in "Love Actually"

Have liked previous series but this one has been a bit meh in my opinion.
Also I wasnt paying as much attention as I should have last night but what happened re the robberies that were happening at the start? did they get mentioned again?

Finally does anyone else find that Sherlock mumbles a lot of his lines?
Sometimes have to rewind to make out what he said.
Cant imagine what it is like for someone as old as Fanny.

The robberies were basically just a set up for a gag. Not really important to the story.

Have to say I saw last night's plot and murderer coming a mile off. It was a bit lightweight IMO. First episode not so much and there's some real loose ends from that (who kidnapped Watson and put him in danger, then watched Sherlock and Mary pull him out?) I like the fact that they've added a female character who isn't just a cipher but they seem to be playing about with Sherlock's reactions a bit too much.

It's all good far fetched nonsensical fun, but extremely well written and acted. Una Stubbs very good as the housekeeper - go on old girl!

Ah yes, still like Aunt Thally.

Thought the first episode in series 3 was good and last nights was exceptional. Judging episode by episode it feels light on the crime solving and heavy on character development (between Sherlock, Watson and Mary). However I get the feeling all of series 3 is one long story and the 3rd episode will be much darker (with most likely an unhappy ending for Watson).

I believe the 3rd episode will also reveal how he done the death illusion. The guy that watches Watson on the bonfire in the end on the tv is in the 3rd episode, watch the trailer for it.

Sherlocks most hated rival psychopath apparently - the next villain.

Great humour, great music, great writing, very good acting, visually a treat. There is a danger that it will become too indulgent, but last night (and a colleague today said it was the worst one so far) I thought was virtually worth the licence fee alone.

I didn't love the first episode of this series, and the first half an hour or so of last night's episode seemed like it would be worse, but it picked up after that and I loved it.

The Reichenbach Falls is my favourite episode, with probably The Hound of Baskerville being my least favourite (not sure why, I just don't like it).
    How about you?

    I'm fine thanks.

I don't think it has that much to do with the original Holmes other than some clever referencing but mostly I see it as well filmed and generally enjoyable bollocks :-)

It purposely has all the characters referring to each other by their first name rather than Holmes, Watson and Listrade etc. Sherlock's quick character anyalsis of people is straight from the originals.
