WBA turned him down a few weeks ago because he wanted to bring his own staff in. Never managed anywhere but Spain. Recently sacked by Betis.
The WBA chairman believes in the Sporting Director system, this where you consistently keep all your back room staff employed by the SD and the only position that changes is the 1st Team Coach. Will be interesting to see if Mel is allowed to bring any staff in.
