Offered a two year contract and the board made it a priority to secure him and he quits!
So FFS CALM DOWN THERES ENEMY AGENTS ALL SH!T-STIRRING YOU LOT AGAINST THE NEW BOARD, What's the feck was Steve Dixon tweeting about Powell not knowing!!! ALL LIES AND MORE LIES!!
Roland needs a big buy or he will be very unpopular amongst the fans.
In the relegation zone and seeing our team completely removed of quality is very worrying. Especially when foreign players need time to adapt to the squad and league.
the only people at a football club who have loyalty to the club are the fans, ok some employees may also be fans but generally those on the payroll do not have loyalty to the club but to themselves, just like the rest of us. After all if your contract was about to end and you were offered better elsewhere would you remain or go, especially from CAFC with all the current uncertainty with regard to CP and others.
So Yann I'm sorry you've gone, I understand your decision and wish you the best at Bournemouth.
One strange thing is the optional 1-year extension, that has been banded around.
Perhaps it was based on us matching or even raising his wages etc? Hence we didn't activate it, as we wanted to keep him, but on reduced terms?
Also the club wouldn't have offered him a 2 year deal. It would either be a 1.5 year deal, or a 2.5 year deal. I believe their PR have rounded up to 2!

They probably mean a new 2 year deal after the existing one ends, ie starting July 2014 & ending 2016.
There's a long way to go today yet. Doesn't look great at the moment but I reckon there'll be more ins and outs to come, and hopefully they'll make us happier than we are now!
Not got a bad word to say about yann & wish him the best of luck at bourney. Gutted he is gone but lets give the new boys a chance. They may become our new yann.
Obviously sad news that we have let out best player leave and a talisman at that HOWEVER I'm seeing this as a 'semedo moment' , we all love him and he was going to sign for charlton for life etc but he can barely get into the Wednesday side now!
Signing rated but random foreigners in place of the spine of the team will either be an unlikely wild success or a seriously massive failure. What worries me is it took us years to find Yann-type players after suffering the likes of Traore. They are the heart of the club.
not even the signing of this polish guy will cure the situation I am going through right now. weird how a football player could means so much to you.... should really start re evaluating my life haha

He was contracted to the end of this season so a 2 year extension takes him through to July 2016
If he was offered reduced terms then quite frankly that's an insult and I can see why he has gone.
Have barely missed a home game since 1995 and despite having seen players a la Rufus, Mendonca, Kinsella etc, there was just something about Yann that really made him a favourite of mine compared to most of them. I cant think of anyone else that had the quite unusual combination of having real flair, a gallic temperament but also grit, determination and a refusal to give up. I also think the timing of his stay just made his contribution more meaningful- we had just had a few years of watching absolute dross loanees and along came a bloke, we in all honesty had no expectations of, who played in the manner he did. I agree with the post doubting whether we would have won league one without him and that's not just for his goals- would BWP have scored 20+ that season with anyone else next to him?
Au revoir Yann- You are a Charlton legend in my book.
"I understand West Bromwich Albion are still intending to try and sign a striker today, likely on a loan basis. "Pepe Mel has prioritised bringing in a new player following Shane Long's sale earlier this month and injuries to both Nicolas Anelka and Stephane Sessegnon. "Standard Liege player Imoh Ezekiel and Espanyol's Thievy are two names that have been linked with a move to The Hawthorns in recent days."

I've heard and believe that to be true.
